Hello there....

I'm into my Week 30 and am new here.

I like to know if anyone has delivered at Sunway Medical Centre or Prince court Medical Centre.

Could you share with me on your experiences on both the facility and care?

hi there

Just to share with you about Sunway Medical Centre. 3 years ago, my manager delivered a baby boy there. The baby was fine after delivery but 24 hours later, the baby died in the nursery room.

Sunway Medical Centre doesn't have a neo-natal department and they don't have a ICU for new born babies. The doctor just told my manager that the heart of her baby stopped beating and he was gone.

She was very devastated and they were too distraught to ask for any post mortem. When asked, the doctor just said sometimes, these things happen. She never found out if there was any negligence part from the hospital or not.

Ever since that, she banned SMC. I don't know the name of her OBGYN, but I can ask for you if you want.

My first consult is with Dr Wong Chin Yuan. He does not tell me anything about my bb and just said I got a 5cm fibroid. Then, he did not explain to me about the fibriod until I keep ask and ask. The last answer he gave me is if the fibroid get bigger will cause bb lost. I just cry non stop afterwards. Luckily my fren ask me go get second doc opinion. So I went to Pantai Bangsar, this doc is good, he tell me how big is my bb, where is teh heartbeat, hand. And he explain to me is quite common to have fibroid, not to worry about.

Talking about fee, Dr WCY cost RM200++ for first consultation. Bangsar only RM100++ for first consultation.

Hi ttanny,

I will be delivering my bb at Tropicana Medical Centre under Dr. Dev Menon. From the year 2005 I have my annual pap smear check with him till last yr when I conceived I've been visiting him for my antenatal monthly checkup. I would say he is an experienced doctor with a smile whenever my husband and I enter his counsultation room. He is very patience and answer by doubts and questions one by one. I'm happy he always spend time to clear my doubts and enquiries. When doing ultrasound scanning he do really explain in details and sumtimes the scanning takes more than 10 mins with my Q&A and explanation.

He is also good in laporascopy and related surgery. Despite all the above personal opinions, sumtimes the waiting time might take about more than 30 mins as he do have patients from US, India and Indonesia too.

Regarding the other Dr. Yong V.P as u mentioned i never see him in TMC even for my monthly antenatal checkup and this is also the 1st time I heard this dr have a molest case. Normally the most popular dr in TMC is Dr. Colin, Dr. Surinder & Dr. Dev Menon. Others like Dr. Aldrin & Yong Jie Kien oso have their own patients/customers.

The environment in TMC oso comfortable with pleasant and helpfull staffs. Sometimes is just the waiting time is abit longer. Hence, appointment booking is better before you have a consultation with the doctors there.

Most people I speak to recommend Dr Ravi Chandran & Dr Jean Woo from Gleneagles. My obgyn is Dr Jean. She is good, especially when it comes to delivery. Only problem is that she can't remember me at all! I'm now seeing her on my 2nd pregnancy, and she still can't remember me. The classic case was when I went for check-up 1 week after the delivery of my first baby, she said oh, your baby is a good size (my baby was quite big, almost 8 pounds). And she asked whether I delivered the natural way. And then she said impressive impressive. I was a bit taken aback coz she was the one who delivered the baby, and it was only a week before! Hehe, but anyway, other than that, she is good. She specialises in infertility too.

A lot of people tell me Dr Ravi is good but I don't have personal experience. You can give him a try.

hello, i'm seeing dr tan lay seng and i think he's great so far. my 3 SILs seen him, 3 of my frens seen him and i can simply count at least 10 colleagues of mine seen him also. many ppl say his charges are most/ very reasonable. he's cheerful and patient. ooo... and many says he's very good at the "sewing" part too

i have 2 colleagues; went to dr jean for all pregnancy check ups but end up delivery by dr tan as she was not available during labor. they highly recommended me to stick to dr tan.

my sis 2 sons were by dr kk wong. according to her, he's the best & most experienced in gleneagles, but i somehow still prefer dr tan after visiting dr kk.

therefore.... you've got to visit the doc urself to see if ur comfy of not. i'm sure all docs has their pros and cons. i've seen 3 different doctors before confirmed sticking to dr tan. good luck!!!

As i know, he did deliver at the pertama clinic too. He did having package which included the check-up till deliver. Very reasonable price. But due to his rushing attitude, i feel un-comfortable with this.

Reis, I can't remember my labour cost..sorry. coz I dont' have the receipt anymore as I claimed it. But it was not cheap coz I gave birth on a Sunday. I think it was close to RM5k - natural birth. But that's also partially coz I took a bigger room, which cost RM350 a night and I stayed for 2 nights.

Anyway, I am seeing Dr Jean now - she charges RM65 for consultation and RM20 for ultrasound. There will be additional charges if you buy supplements from her.

i guess dr KK 1st time charge was much higher becoz he did vaginal scanning gua... (i was just 6weeks then) where as dr tan did the normal tummy scanning.

yeah dr eee very save his & patients time by having the next patient waiting for him at another room

Thank you Reis. For my first pregnancy, the first 5 months I actually saw Dr Raman from FMGC instead. But i switched to Dr Jean after that coz I prefer to give birth in Gleneagles. Personally, I much prefer Dr Raman :)

I was seeing Dr Eugene... He is a very good doctor, caring and frenly... Just tat the equipments at UMSC are a bit outdated... He cant confirm my baby's gender at my 25th week after the 4th scanning... I was very disappointed... and he tried to do the 3D or 4D (dont know is which) and I can only see something like sahara desert... he has to explain which is eyes, nose and lips... i cant see anything...

I went to Dr Ng Soon Pheng today at Columbia... I am very impressed with the service... Nurses very frenly and polite, Dr Ng is also a nice chap... He did scanning and I know my baby gender alredi... now I am at my 28 weeks... imagine knowing ur baby's gender so late! then he did the 3D or 4D scan and I can see my baby's face so clearly without Dr explaning... and baby's liver, stomach, the heart 4 chambers... I so happy tat I cried there seeing my baby's face...

So I decided to deliver at Columbia under Dr Ng instead...

Congratulations babysiew....

Am thinking of going to see Dr Ng as I stay in puchong... Do you mind sharing the charges?

Congratz babysiew......I had mk an appointment wv Dr Ng tomolo....cant wait to see him and view the place as well...
