  1. I have both Ameda Lactaline and Medela Freestyle. Ameda suction is stronger than Freestyle and the flange is more durable than medela. My Ameda broke down just once after I used it for 7months. I'm letting go of my Ameda Lactaline bought in 2010. It is BPA Free version. I used it for about 9 months. Now serving as a backup unit only. Still in good condition and still have original box. Pls email me at christine_kon@yahoo.com for more details and pic.
  2. I'm letting go of my Ameda Lactaline dual electric pump for RM370. I bought it in April2010 for use with my first baby. Still in good condition and in original box. I'm now using Medela Freestyle for my second baby. My Ameda pump serves as a backup unit in case my Freestyle broke down. Personally I love both pumps. Both have its pros and cons. Ameda suction is stronger but Medela gives me mobility. I will let go of my Freestyle by end of this year also cos I plan to stop breastfeed when my baby turns one year old. Pls email me at christine_kon@yahoo.com for more info and pic.
  3. Congrats to ryoko and san2010 on your little prince. ^___^
  4. Congrats, ceetee on your twin boys. I had emer csec for my 1st & 2nd son too. Enjoy breastfeeding.
  5. My baby is still jaundiced till now. Brought him to see paeds yesterday and he did a liver function test using blood. The results were total bilirubin 264. Direct bilirubin is normal so it isn't obstructive jaundice but GGT was high 551. My paediatrician gave me the option of waiting for one more week and repeat the liver function test again or stop breastfeeding for 24hours and repeat serum bilirubin. I took the latter option. My baby has been on exclusive breastmilk since day one. Does breastmilk cause prolonged neonatal jaundice? Is due to something we eat like chinese herbs during confinement?
  6. ceetee, Thanks. I'm feeling a lot better now. I seek advice from my lactation nurse and she said since I'm only having low grade fever and no redness at my breast, she advised me to latch on more and pump regularly. I drank more water and used warm compress before pumping. My supply became less from my left breast initially but today its back to normal as the lumps cleared up. I think I just had mastitis without infection so there was no need for antibiotics. :)
  7. Latching on my baby helped relieve some of the pain but the fever is still there on and off. I'm taking Panadol for the fever. Will do as you suggest. Thanks.
  8. I had a painful sensation on my left breast when I pumped last night. I can feel the pain even when I get a letdown. There's no lump but when I squeezed my breasts , I can feel the pain from underneath my armpit and it goes all the way the areola. I had mild fever this afternoon 38C. Did anyone encounter this before?

  10. Sorry, but I didn't encounter this problem before. Maybe you might want to see a doctor and see what he says?
  11. Hi, Sorry to hear bout your bad experience. You may want to contact my confinement lady Kuan 019-2492993. She is with me till 14/12/11. You may read about her reviews from me and potatoes from earlier this thread. Hope this helps.
  12. ceetee, Yes, ridiculous rules and can't stand the way they handle babies. Ivan was quite a fussy baby and I couldn't really cope alone after I went back home, crying baby, blocked milk ducts, sore and cracked nipples, sleepness nights... I guess that lead to depression. I was pumping exclusively for Ivan from 2nd mth onwards. He refused to latch on, and I had to resort to pumping. After you stop breastfeeding the lumps slowly subside? Did you took any medication for it? I had some lumps as well but they weren't huge, just that they were stubborn and just wouldn't go away. I slowly dragged my pumping time. My milk supply had started to dwindle by then. I had started supplementing with formula milk since my supply was not enought to meet his demands plus the tiredness from the 2nd pregnancy was getting to me. Then I stopped using my pump and just used my hands to squeeze out the milk into storage bottle. By then I was only getting around 7-8oz a day. I stopped storing the milk after my milk volume went down to 2-3oz. Just squeeze out whatever is remaining when I took my bath so I wouldn't end up with clogged milk ducts. At that time seeing all my empty storage bottles, gave me the blues, the hormones from the 2nd pregnancy was getting to me as well...I guess... Now, seeing my storage bottles being filled up and looking at my freezer stacking with milk, I couldn't be more happier. Ivan and his brother Jayden are both on my breast milk now. Maybe you might have surplus milk to feed Gina as well. You never know...
  13. ceetee, I had mild post-natal depression as well after my 1st delivery but it wasn't from the csec itself. it was due to the bad confinement experience I had at a confinement center. Now I'm doing my confinement at home. I'm now feeding Ivan my breastmilk as well. He likes it which quite surprises me. I have always thought kids that have gotten used to drinking fm will reject breastmilk because fm is sweeter. Perhaps he still remembers the taste that he used to like so much. When I had to stop breastfeeding Ivan, I was feeling very down because I felt I wasn't a good mother. But at that point, I had no choice as I was pregnant withJayden and my energy level practically down to zero. It affected my milk supply and I unwillingly had to stop. Now, that I have sufficient for both of them, I'm really happy. I hope I can breastfeed longer this time.
  14. I'm not too sure whether its less painful but i was up and walking about slowly by day 2, post csec. On charges, perhaps you might want to check with your gynae where you plan to deliver. I believe the charges varies in different hospitals. My 1st csec and 2nd csec bill is almost the same, around 6k.
