  1. Hi, I really want to urge women to choose hospitals that encourage natural birth to those who wants to give birth naturally. Many private hospitals/clinics will scare you so that they can cut you up to earn more $$$. Many of my friends ended caeseran in a maternity specialist center in Cheras and other private hospitals/clinics. Also, for responsible mothers, please breastfeed your baby because your baby deserves the best. It's your duty as a mother to breastfeed your baby and take care of your baby after birth. Not let your confinement lady to take care. If can't breastfeed after try really hard, then pump. Surely have milk. It's our nature to feed our baby milk. Although manufactures imitate by making artifically/formula milk but breastmilk is still the best. Give your baby the best start in life. WHO recommends breastfeeding exclusively for the first 6 months, then complement with food with breastfeeding for up to 2 years. AAP - American Academy of Pediatrics recommend breastfeeeding for at least 1 year. Post pregnancy is hard work, love and care for your baby by yourself. Not time to relax.
  2. At 6th months pregnant, I am still thinking whether to switch from HUKM private wing to public wing. The consultation and ultrasound costs RM108++ every month. Plus, I need to get 2 shots of rhogam, which costs RM411.50 each. The fees are very high. Should I switch to government? I have the pink book. I wanted to go to public in the beginning but other people influenced me to go to private.
  3. I am also looking for a nursery in KL City.
  4. Anyone know the gender of their baby at week 14?
  5. Annlee, UKMSC is consider private hospital so the charges is high. but i think only for consultation RM172 is quite expensive la. maybe the first time will have other admin charges. when i first go to Assunta they charge me 140 but subsequent check up only 40 plus. Yeah, I thought so.. maybe there's admin charges for first visit. I think subsequent charges should be around RM50-60. And, surprisingly the appointment was on time although there's many patients today. I wonder why so many ppl choose UKMSC. I remembered I went to Chinese Maternity Hospital and there's no queue at all. I was the only patient.
  6. I went to UKMSC today for the first time. The nurses at the front desk are very polite and friendly. Only the nurse at the urine and blood pressure lab is very rude and unfriendly. Prof. Dr. Tan Ay Eeng is very nice and gentle. We could see at my baby clearly and she said that the baby looks healthy and is very active. The baby's hands are actively moving. With that, the bill came up to RM172, which is surprising as I did not take any medicine. Just consultation and a look at the baby. Is it normal to be that expensive for first visit?
  7. Thanks for the reply. I wonder if I can get the free shots from HUKM government. Maybe I can tell my gynae at UKMSC that I want to take the shots from goverment pool. Haha.
  8. At almost 3 months pregnant, I'm going for my check-up at UKM specialist center (UKMSC) for the first time tomorrow. Before this, I've been to a private clinic and Chinese Maternity Hospital. Hopefully the rates at UKMSC is not so expensive because I really think it's ridiculous to spend unnecessary huge amount of money when you can get the same thing at cheaper rate. In addition, I'm a A negative blood type. Private hospitals need to buy the Rhogam injection from government hospitals and the injection is not cheap, I heard, about several hundred ringgit. And, I need two shots. I want to go to HUKM government, but my parents and husband want to me to go to UKMSC. Fair enough, at least the rates are still cheaper than other private hospitals. My mother-in-law is worst off because to her (typical aunty's mindset) that expensive private hospital is the best, or rather, I would think she wants to show-off to her friends (bunch of aunties) that her son is doing well and can afford expensive hospitals. All these are crap to me. I'll be seeing Prof. Dr. Tan Ay Eeng. Hopefully everything will go smoothly tomorrow.
