  1. Agree, ITT(Invitation to Treat) is not an offer, they are not bound by it, not only hotel, lots of errant businessman practice it commonly in Malaysia...
  2. I only have limited choice after talking to most of the hotel, base on my budget and venue availability, these are the available venue I get. I need some comment/input (being good or bad) before I place my booking. The one ranked at 4 & 5 are quite expensive package and they are "arm twisting" me to have more tables in order to get thier venue at the date I want. 1. Berjaya Time Square 2. Legend Hotel 3. Hotel Istana 4. Crowne Plaza 5. Nikko Hotel
  3. Hi b_e_tan, in this scenario, you have not suffered loss or damages but merely like to voice out your dissatisfaction. It will be quite difficult for you to go through proper complaints channel especially by way of legal. Hotel will always argue that its due to "typo error/human error", worst case scenario, they will just withdraw all flyers and information in web, this will not create huge impact on them. What I can suggest is depends on what hotel chain is it, if its International brand, you can always complaint to thier oversea customer service and usually they will attend on it as they are particular on the branding. This will not make any good to you but the people that dealing with you will have tough time answering thier Senior Management.OR you can always call up/mail/write to any hot line (so far Malay Mail and Star), let the media publish all the bad name on it, it will create a greater impact as no Hotel like to tarnish thier own branding. Again, you can file in tribunal but its difficult to quantify your losses as no transaction taken place UNLESS you can prove that because of this misrepresentation by the Hotel, you suffer loss (which is quite difficult to proof), you might get some compensation but its minimal as Malysia dont practice like U.S.

  5. Agree ;) , usually tribunal will stand at consumer side.....
  6. Hi cutiem627, Usually complaints will make after service/goods provided as then only you have your facts right. In your scenario, I think its b'cos they have broken thier promise (may be you have top up payment etc. which is not stated here) and you have no choice but "force" to accept service in order not to delay timeline, it can be done, but then again, it depends on what sort of complaints that you are referring to and what sort of compensation you want. Once service/goods provided, you will be awarded with compensation ( usually the differential sum paid or refund but definitely not winfall). If you have more facts of the issue, I can provide you better understanding.
  7. Dear all From some of the topics posted, I noticed that lots of you have dissatisfaction/bad experiences when dealing with certain retailers/service providers. I have some good web sites to recommend, it might help you all to nab those irresponsible and errant businessman and teach them a lesson. I am working in legal field (I am not a lawyer), I work closely with lawyers as I am legally trained. If you all have any legal related enquiries, I think I am able to answer. If not, I will find out from all my lawyers. Here are some of the websites that you all can use to voice your dissatisfaction OR to act against them: http://www.consumer.com.my/index.php Its all about consumers’ right and you can even point out the name of company with no fear PROVIDED the facts written are genuine with no bad intention. OR http://www.kpdnhep.gov.my/index.cgi?lang=english Its our own Ministry of Trade & Consumer Affairs. They will look into every case reported, once the same company being complained few times, they will start look into it. OR You can try their e-tribunal site at http://tribunal.kpdnhep.gov.my/, this is actual filing of case against company that you intend to bring action, they will only give fair decision either refund or rectify the errors but not in compensation mode. OR You can write to: Consumer Association of Penang (CAP) 228 Jalan Macalister, ,Penang, Malaysia Phone : +604-229 3511 / 3713 / 3612 Fax : +604-229 8106 - A powerful consumer protection body as they will have their way to assist you to find the best solutions. If there are any Financial Institutions/Insurance companies that you intend to complaint, check this site http://www.fmb.org.my/ (Bank), http://www.piam.org.my/complain.htm (Insurance) its efficient than Bank Negara Malaysia, they are affiliated from BNM, my experience dealing with them is fantastic, and this body can nail all bankers to bottom. Hope all the above help. Let me know if you all need to know any details.
