  1. Thanks! Those photos were taken at The Picture Company (The Gardens Branch). I really like those photos. Very well taken , with lots of different facial expression.
  2. Re finger food/snacks: What about those Gerber or Healthy Time puffs as well as rice cakes? You can also give her fresh soft fruits as a snack. Don't find Gerber and Healthy Time puffs at the supermarket I visited (Bangsar village and Pavilion). Mind sharing where can I find them in Singapore cos my sister will be there this weekend. As for fruits, I find that most of the time it is not so soft. Or maybe I should put the fruits outside to soften it? Re breakfast ideas: You can give French toast, scrambled eggs, pancakes, muffins, yogurt & cereal (like muesli), milk with some biscuits, etc. :) Okay got it. Visited your blog and will try out recipes from there. Thanks so much for sharing. Re cheese cubes/cheese slices: I'm not familiar with those cheese cubes but please read the ingredients for sodium content. Most of the time, cheese slices like Kraft Singles are considered processed cheese and high in salt as well as flavouring. I usually avoid those as well as things like Laughing Cow because giving them encourages Eva to prefer highly salted and flavoured foods which are unhealthy. Babies like them because well, they are highly flavoured but then again, not everything they like is good for them. :p Okay noted. Re muffin and pancakes: Yes, you can make those for your baby since she can take egg yolks. Store them in an airtight container in the freezer and when you want to give them to baby, just rebaked (covered to avoid burning) or microwave for a minute (in a container to avoid drying out). Oh good, then she can have them whenever she want since can store in freezer. Re chicken: I give shredded chicken as a snack food but in small pieces. Usually how you would prepare the chicken? Bake / steam? Any natural seasoning? Re outside food: I still wouldn't suggest things like mashed potatos and french fries - those available commercially are made from mostly filler ingredients like flour and contain high amounts of salt and flavouring. When I go out with Eva, I usually get rice, some veg as well as chicken - those are usually quite safe. If we go for sushi, she usually takes endamame (her favourite), some grilled fish and sushi rice. For pasta, I would go for those with olive oil instead of cream (salty) or tomato (acidic and more suitable for older babies). Okay got it. At least I have some idea now. Mabel, thanks so much. Eva is so lucky to have you. Always prepare a variety of nice food for her
  3. Is there any commercial snacks for bb below 1 years (My bb is 9 months now)? Cos what I always find at supermarket, the snacks is for 1 years abd above. My bb don't like to take cereal for breakfast anymore, I think she is bored already. Perfer something she can hold and chew. So now I am giving her bread. If I don't make my own bread, can I give her gardenia bread daily? She takes about half a slice. I have toast bread with unsalted butter and make french toast with egg yolk for her. What other variety can I make? Put cream cheese (those philadephia cream cheese?) If I decided to make the bread myself, is it easy and with more variety of recipe? Can I make some muffin or cake for bb now? If can, can store in the freezer as well? Actually once a while (weekend) can we give bb some bites of those slice cheese? like those put at burger? Now when we go out to eat, bb don't want to eat her food. She wants what we are eating. Most of the time I just give her the bread, kesian her bread again. Oh yes, those cheese that sold in small cubes for children, can I give my bb those as well. Given her once at my cousin place, and she loved it. As for chicken, try giving her few times (minced), cooked with porridge, she don't like them. Not sure is it still too hard for her to chew. Mind sharing, what other methods you all have tried for the chicken recipe. Sorry for being blur blur, when we go out, what food I can order so that bb can have some portion as well. is it mashed potato, french fries, soup noudle, bread, and what else? My bb like homecook pasta, so when I go out, is there any pasta I can order? What ingredient to look for? Sorry for having so many questions. Because I found that my bb is getting bored with her food already.
  4. Thanks Mabel. Going to try your baked apple next week
  5. my baby is 8 months now. Can I make her fruits puree without steaming? Just blend, cubed and keep in the freezer? Just wandering can we freeze papaya and honeydew puree? Mabel, your baked apple, you blend the apple with skin on?
  6. garezma, You can make it want. One day you will be surprise that you can fit in your clothes again. I am also fully breastfeed my bb. So, maybe that helps to lose some weight as well.
  7. Hi Sumsum, Maybe give yourself another month or two to see. 3 months after delivery, I spring clean my closet and wanted to pass some jeans and shirt to my sis. She ask me to keep them and told me I will sure fit into them one day. True enough, at the 4th month, I can fit all of them already. I gain 27kg when I am pregnant, and lose all of them in less than 4 months. I did not do any exercise, did not wrap my tummy, no urut, no slimming course. Yes, our body structure did change. But after 4 months, mine back to normal liau. Very lucky. At 3 months, I still need to wear L / XL size. But now need S size . And I can fit in G2000 pants "S" size. I am SAHM, not sure is it taking care bb myself make me slim down more faster cos very tiring. {Oh yes, maybe you can do some exercise with your bb. like doing sit up (with your bb sitting at your tummy)}
  8. Fitti 360° is also good. It has unique 'Stretchy Tapes' and very quiet. So when you change the diaper when bb is sleeping, will not disturb their sleep.
  9. I am using philips hand blender. Very convenient, blend straight from the pot / bowl.
  10. Hi cutegal2424, after reading the link you have posted, now I can conclude that the HT rice cereal I open last week has bug lor. No wander lah, last week after opening the packet, I go and get a spoon to scoop the cereal. Then I notice there is a bug inside. I was quite puzzle that time also lor. So fast got bug can fly inside meh. The bug is quite the same colour as the cereal and I don't see this type of bug in my kitchen before. Actually, at that time I feel weird also cos "mana datang this type of bug punya" Mmm.. I think now the best is we do our own grind cereal.
  11. Err, I felt that it smell like when BB burp out milk, those kind of smell. Anyway, since it is not necessary to put milk into cereals, then I just ignore it. I think BB will enjoy the cereal more if put fruit / veg puree . Thanks mei teoh. Oh yes, I just bought 2 bottle of puree (pear and sweet pea) for BB. Am wandering, BB sure can't finish the whole bottle, so after opening, is it I transfer into ice cube and frozen it?
  12. My BB will start solid next month, so I try to pump and intend to keep some stock so that can use when preparing her cereal. After 2 days of putting the EBM in the fridge, I try to taste them. It taste so different from when it is fresh. Actually, it taste like a bit "basi" / spoilt. So, now I am wandering, is it a must to put milk when prepare cereal at the initial stage? If I can omit the milk, then what else I can put in at the initial stage.
  13. My BB girl sleeps in aircond room too from day one. 26c-28c with fan switch on. She sleeps with short sleeve and long pants (no mitten and booties from day 1). If I see that we can sleep without a blanket, I don't cover her as well. From the book I read, it says try not to overheat the bb. We should dress our bb same as how we dress. If we are dress in short sleeve and shorts only, bb can be dress that way too. I have also ask the paed, bb afraid of cold or hot. His answer, bb is more afraid of hot. Aircond 25c - 26c is fine. Maybe you can tell your MIL, hospital nursery room also switch on the aircond. My bb girl has little small dots as well when younger. I notice that if I switch on the air cond, it is not so obvious and red. So, I start switching on the air cond in the afternoon as well. I think her little dots disappear when she is 2 months plus.
  14. Baby Acne (Hormonal Rash) - Baby acne starts around the cheek area around the 3rd week after birth - This is due to the withdrawal of maternal hormones - It may spread over baby's face and when baby is hot, the rash will appear particularly red - Baby acne will disappear around the 6-8th week and usually no treatment is necessary - Remember to clean baby's face 2-3 times daily with cool boiled water and always keep baby clean and cool Abstract from "Asian Parenting Today" book. This is a very useful and resourceful book. Sumsum2202, get hold of this book. Last time whenever my MIL says something which I do not agree, I will refer to this book, show it to my hubby and let him explain to his mum. If you don't have time to check out the bookstore, you can purchase it online.
