  1. Dear ji muis, Anyone know of any private bungalows that are available for rent? I'd like to look for a cosy bungalow, preferably with a garden (or better still, a pool!) for my marriage solemnization ceremony, followed by simple refreshment that I will cater from outside. Location is Klang Valley. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
  2. Hi Jo, sorry I just saw your previous message. Yup you're right, can't really control the ang pow part, what I can control is to cut my cost lor.. And yes, it's the thought that counts and I should stop thinking so much about breaking even. I'd just try my best to save cost that's all Thanks for the advice dear, really appreciate your insights! I think I will not think of cake an favors as of now, since normally restaurants will provide chocolates as favors, I can save there lo. And cake not necessary la Your advices are really useful for me, thanks so much again!! Oh ya do you know of any bungalows that I can rent for my ceremony? Maybe I should post a separate post on this Hi Jess, Oh no wonder.. so you just chose to do things that matter to you to save costs! Very well-thought indeed Oh wow my FH and I just had that thought today of doing our ceremony outdoor just to make things special! Then we can proceed to our normal chinese wedding. Thanks for the idea! And Jo gave me the idea of a bungalow too. My FH even suggested we can do the ceremony in our house and just splurge on deco Wow, i truly CAN make the day mine! Just need a little creativity to work around my budget aye? Thanks so much for your advice and suggestions Jess! Truly appreciate it

  4. Hi Jo, thank you so much for your honest and valuable advice. In fact what ever you said has been in the back of my mind but I refuse to admit it You're very right, standard rate is still RM80-100 and the buffet itself will be costing me more than RM100 Thank you for mentioning about peak period, I think my date is during a peak month, Nov 2011, do you think it's a peak month? If so maybe I should really consider postponing my AD.. Haha what my friends do is normally have a few "receptionist" including one close relative to help collect the ang pows, so i guess everyone would be obliged to give then? Before they walk in they will have to pass the reception table mah Hmm, could you advice me on what are the things that might "pop up" and add cost to our wedding? Actually my friend broke even.. se had her wedding last year.. and she even earn a lot. I mean A LOT! Her hubby's friends were not rich but were extremely generous, cos her hubby is a super kind man I think it's time for me to stop dreaming about a garden wedding and start hunting for another venue Hi Sook Lin, Yup garden wedding might be cheaper than hotel wedding, but not all the time i guess... anyhow I think my choice now is not a hotel, can't afford it Will have to move to our last choice -- chinese restaurant. Sigh.. Haha I think I'm not so "thick face" to ask my "receptionist" open the ang pow in front of people la.. but will just ask her note down the attendance and put a tick when ang pow is given. Then write name on the ang pow. Should be good enough to make people give ang pow right? OMG I sound like a money-sucking-vampire :wacko3: Neither my FH and I are from rich family backgrounds, so I doubt we'll have any well-to-do relatives or friends who would give us big ang pows.. And yeah guess we'll invite as little people as possible.. but it all also depends on our parents!
  5. Diana, Oh! Haha.. wow RM1700! Okaaayyy.... guess i'd have to forget about Park Royal already, LOL Thanks for your sharing!

  12. Haha Jess, very smart move! Surprise them right? Well I'm just really afraid that even if the good is good (which I heard it is), the older relatives wouldn't appreciate it cos it's Western.. still no sharks fin, suckling pig, abalone! Dropping hints about the price is a good "tactic"! Hehe thanks! I'm really glad for you that you've decided to go unconventional! Can't wait to see your post-wedding pics and please do share about your experience after Sept! I pray for generous relatives and friends for you!
  13. shleesy, thanks so much for your valuable insights. Well both my FH and I love the atmosphere and setting in PR, but of course also concern about weather and heat etc, so we're not to say very comfortable with having our reception there. Reception is of course about celebrating, and how I wish I can just focus on that point. But due to budget constraints, we have to be extra "calculative" about being able to "break even", or at least don't spend too much in the end.. In other words, if we are to take this option, it might be outside our financial means, hence the poll to help us estimate whether we can afford to spend that much of $$. Actually I believe most of the time, the wedding reception is not about the couple, or at least not for them. We can't run away from the want and need to please our relatives, and in terms of reception we often have to forgo what we like. This is the conclusion that I have gotten after speaking to FH's parents.. so this is my stage of "thinking carefully" on what I want and what I can afford sooklin, you're so funny!! Thanks for your great suggestion on the ang pow box I personally don't like abalone too, and I don't understand why people are willing to pay so much for it!
  14. Dear brides and BTBs, I am in a dilemma.. I really love Passion Road (so does FH), but we are not sure of going unconventional.. some of our concerns: 1. How would the venue be like, since it's outdoor? Will guests (and us!) complain of heat, mosquitos, etc? 2. Will guests think that this dinner is FOC, hence do not prepare ang paos? Even if they do, they are not sure of how much to give, and would give much lesser? 3. Will guests (especially our relatives) complain on the lack of expensive chinese food like sharks fin and abalone? Will they think that we are giving them cheap food? Would really appreciate all of your advice, especially brides who have had their wedding dinners there. And also those who have attended weddings at PR. Your kind help is much appreciated, thank you!!
  15. jo, the deco is so beautiful! Love the bold colours of pink and black Could you share your quotation with me please? jessica, can I have your quotation too please? And to both of you, was the venue hot and full of mosquito? I really would love a garden wedding but FH hates heat and humidity and mosquitos For buffet, is it true that if I have 300pax, I might just need to pay for maybe 270pax or something? So can save cost? Thanks!
  16. missy may, oh ya i just found out that buffets are not cheap either! But my FH don't like the idea.. he said people will be confused on whether to give ang pao or not wor.. and he said will definitely receive less ang pao and can't cover cost liao

  22. Just wondering whether anyone went to a wedding in KL Tower recently? Thinking of doing my AD dinner there, am trying to get feedback on the food and pricing and service.. Please share your experience if you have one :) Thanks in advance!
  23. Dear babes, I have a flat round mole (non-3D, only 2D ) on my chest, and it is quite ugly when I wear tops of low neckline.. actually not very low also it might be exposed already Anybody has an idea of how to remove the mole, or at least conceal it for my AD? I don't want to be restricted in my choice of gowns just because of that mole.. if I just ignore it, I think it might attract unwanted attention, cos I'm quite fair and the mole kinda "stands out" HELP!!
