  1. i agree some should be retained i.e. tea ceremony cos to me it means acceptance and respect to elders. this i think should be retained regardless.

but there are many others that don't make sense. for example, the potty - does it really mean that if a small boy pees in the potty one will be blessed with alot of children/boys?

or choosing a date that is deemed 'auspicious' - does it mean that the marriage will be "happily ever after" ? and if insisted, doesn't that make it harder for couples to book a restaurant / hotel cos every other couple wants to get the same date?

then there are those timing issues - if one can only give out invitations after betrothal of gifts (which is a few weeks before the AD) , wouldn't that be too late cos we normally send out invites 2 mths bfore and give 1 mth to rsvp.

these are just my views lar. i hv nothing against them, just that alot of them do not make sense anymore in the modern days cos its no longer practical.

haha definitely agreed to this !

  4. I have been with my darling for 5 years already and I should give her a lifetime promise - marry her.

but come to think of the fund needed to spend on wedding, I am headache..

Catering, rental, wedding gown, decoration, photographer, hall rental, and the wedding card etc.. At least need about RM 50k for a good and memorable wedding.

Normally how you guys spend on the wedding preparation ? should i cut down some cost or get more cash in hand ? Please advise..

50k sounds reasonable for a budget wedding in KL/PJ area ...

some wedding budgeting here, u could have a look as reference =)

  5. Anyone can share with me the estimated budget to be spent on a wedding decoration? I would like to know the budget of hiring a wedding planner VS doing it myself...any suggestion? Please help............

    hi there

wedding deco is anything from 2k - 6k in current market price. i have worked out some wedding budget here (in fact super budget with super careful planning) ...

best if u could DIY some urself and the rest leave it to the wedding decoractor to keep the cost low ...

  6. Hi.. Am new to this forum, hope that I can get advises here.. :) I'm going to have my wedding end of next year.. Every girl has a dream wedding in mind and I'm so anxious to have mine come true soon.. But when I start to inquire about wedding planning services, I realize that it's not cheap to get a wedding planner and make your wedding perfect.. In fact I'm not looking for something luxurious or glamorous, I just to wish to have my wedding venue properly decorated, preferably with theme so that it's cosy, lovely & warm.. Am thinking of doing it myself but I guess buying props for only one time use is quite wasteful.. So am wondering is there any website which I can get wedding themes, rent the props but do it myself on the actual day so that it's not costly? My budget is RM 1-2K.

Also, if I were to have my wedding dinner at Chinese restaurants, will it look bad if there is no proper decoration / designs from wedding planner? How good if I can get professional advises from some party, rent the props with reasonable price and yet get my perfect wedding dream come true. I don't mind getting the help from my friends to help DIY the venue, I supposed friends are willing to help??

hi there, i was a DIY bride too and have some props which u could rent

saved up quite alot when i got florist to do some and the rest taken care by myself

a few DIY stuff here ... u could actually buy those coloured lanterns yourself to deco ur wedding =)

if u need ideas, check out my blog here. cheers and happy planning!

  7. Hi, my fiance just proposed to me and we are planning to have our ROM and wedding reception in year 2015. We are looking for an intimate ROM with probably 40 pax and dinner reception for about 150 pax.

Ciao restaurant, Carcosa Seri Negara, Passion Road and Rama V thai are way of our league. Then we came across with Huck's cafe in Bangsar, by chance anyone of u have your ROM done in Huck? or attending ROM in Huck? any comments about the food?

For tea ceremony and dinner reception, we are thinking of having it at Ming's Room, any comments on the food and venue? i heard there are plenty of pillars which make photography more challenging.

    Thanks again...

I dont think Huck Seng caters for a wedding due to the no of guests involved since he cooks every dish himself (according to my sis' mum in law), unless your planning a really small ROM ... like 25 - 30 pax?

  8. I am thinking on getting pre-wedding shooting @ MOCO / Armadale, wondering which one will be better. Read alot posts on bad experiences in bridal shop, except MOCO & Armadale --- which have positive feedbacks. Do you mind to share the pricing to my email address? xxiao_yue@hotmail.com

    Thank you very much! :)

  11. rs1608,

I found this 4 season tree inspiration online, should be more than enough to cover your 600 guests.

    abbykoh,

I'm planning to have the tree at the entrance of my new home after the wedding, kind of like a blessing from my guests on my new home/life.

I'm planning to have polaroid too, but at my wedding dinner. Thinking of DIY photobooth, then have the photographer snap pics of my guests and another person in charge of the polaroid, so my guests will have photos to bring home. But not sure if the guests will appreciate that, scare they just throw the photo when they reach home, then waste my $$$.

    HI Lib_gal81,

My friend's wedding was using polaroid too... till date, we still stick the polaroid picture at our house fridge.. so okay wor..

it's quite common to see polaroid in wedding nowadays.. don't have to buy polaroid, can just rent if you are not using it all the time. My sis bought one but hardly use ohh ^^

DIY photobooth? huh? are you sure? it's a lot of work .. don't think you have time ler.. One of my friend recently got married.. she told her planner that she wanted to DIY so many things, during her wedding ROM ceremony, she didnt even diy anything at all, and her plan is not working at all, her DIY flower bouquet also have to order last min, and her wedding arch.. she told her planner that she wanted to DIY (which the planner already said no, she insisted)... guess what... her wedding arch..she diy a board on top of the arch... she didnt attached properly, during her ceremony... the thing dropped one side, hanging there... i see this ardy... i know... DIY is huge no no for me ohh... plus so exhausting..

Yes totally agreed with abbykoh.. don't DIY many things on your own to save cost! Need to give buffer to unexpected events happening.

LOL sounds really familiar to me!! i attended a wedding with similar story which in the end plan hardly worked out due to last min stuff and too many super tedious DIY plans ...

anyways i have been to that wedding where 'thumb print' tree was used too but don't think it makes sense at all as in the end of day, perhaps what is more important are the messages which guests could really pen it down properly on a normal guestbook?

  12. ok quick reviews on tanarimba ...

Unless ur setting up canopy, avoid morning as the sun would directly shine on the 'garden' spot and it would be too late before u realise that its melting ur makeup and ur guests!

In the case if it rains, u won't have any more 'garden' wedding and will need to move to other spots.

    best time for ROM/ceremony: sunset

ambience: no clear stage however this would open door for coziness with live band of course!

decor: try to keep it simple so as not to kill off the beautiful scenery as ur natural backdrop

food: u definitely need to go the extra mile sourcing for reputable caterer who could keep ur food warm!!

    cocktail: watch out the flies!

    parking: VERY limited

hence this is a place suitable for small wedding .. anything lesser than 150 pax should be alright.

  13. i went up to survey this place last yr too. it's perfect if you really can spend for it (ie: catering, lodging, decors, sound system, banquets). Imagine all the bulb lights and a very rustic theme, long viking table setting. Ah! But I had to be realistic at the end of the day - my guests were going to drink heaps and they may or may not stay at the guest houses nearby or at tanahrimba. price factor. Beautiful and works for some people. I'd love to hv my wedding dinner here, unfortunately the safety of my guests comes first :)

    well said =)

i'm not up for ANY 'destination' weddings unless it is really at my convenience .... unfortunately as being a bz person i'm not too keen on spending hrs on it, not to mention spending hrs just to get there & back lol =p
