Hi MB members, I just joined this forum a few days ago. I have been doing research on CS and every member is very helpful here. Could any member whom CS made by Mrs Gan send my her contact number? I will be coming down to KL sometime next week, hence I hope to made a visit to her shop if possible.

Does Mrs Gan also sells material for CS? I like some of the CS posted in MB forum earlier, especially those with high-collar and with some embroideries..

Looks traditional and elegant

Also, would anyone be able to advise as to how much time to allocate for tailoring a CS?

Thanks in advance for your advice... My email is jo_ey2011@yahoo.com

Indeed Mrs. Gan is a wonderful lady that will do her very best to make a beautiful cs/gown for everyone. My wedding falls a week after CNY and she is going for vacation during CNY, then I could only come back 3 days before CNY despite she still rush for my cs alteration and done a great job! I love her workmanship. It is really a great CS!! I love the cs very much!! Everyone adores it on my wedding dinner.

Will definitely seek for her again to make gowns when my sister in law get marry.

Dear sherylp,

could you pass me Mrs Gan's contact number? My email add is chantal_wee@yahoo.com

Btw, if you don't mind could you share with me the cs that she had sewed? I'm looking to have my cheongsam tailored made, with lace on top, with a cheap and good tailor....

Thanks!

I would definitely recommend Ang Eng Boutique at Amcorp Mall that specialises in selling & custom making cheongsam, baju kebaya & baju kurung. They have been around since 1955 and has loyal Malaysian & Singaporean customer base. They are now in the 3rd generation already. If you are looking for fine handiworks/sewing/stitching, go to them.

My cheongsam tailor... Auntie Theresa Wong

auntytheresa.jpg

My friend and I are crazy about cheongsam and these are what we made over the years...

jnjwddinner073.jpgjnjwdmorning408.jpgjnjwddinner077.jpgcnyu.jpgcnycheongsam.jpgcheongsamec.jpg

She learned her skills from Shanghainese master in the early 1940's. In those days, workmanship was only 2.00ringgit per cheongsam.

I paid RM 300 for her workmanship, where she made all the chinese buttons with her hand, and the hem on my qipao is one of the most amazing thing on the piece, because you can't see any stitching, no trace of tread.......

Though my qipao is a bit pricey, but her sewing skills made all the difference

Auntie Theresa's number is 017-602 1362

hi all,

ive just went to emerald brilliant at SS2 (below the shop is BSN..and opposite of it is McDonald).. SS2 is the HQ. It has few outlet// newly opened at Pavillion..and the oldest would be Armada Building..and next would be One Utama. i would recommend those who's interested to go to SS2 as the sifu cs is actually there at ss2// she will measures and sew it herself.

my cs is shocking pink satin as inner, topped with greyish lace & pearls + sequin , cs cut with train, sleeveless, diamond shape bare back. ive been advised by the sifu cs to keep fit and loose the tummy fat// inspired by her words..i am now in the process of getting that hourglass shape figure//

owh, how much does the cs cost me? = less than RM1K but more than RM700. it's negotiable// -good cs isnt about the price but the cut that fit you ^_^/' do spend wisely...

Hi all,

I've read so many positive reviews about Mrs. Gan, which makes me very tempted to try her tailoring. I've a few questions for those who have worked with her before though:

1.) Is Mrs. Gan also good in tailoring other types of clothings other than CS and gowns? I've a few lacy tops and blazers designs that I'd like custom-made (I have the pictures for her to base it from).

2.) Does she own a tailoring shop, or does she work from home? If it's a shop, may I have the exact address? I was thinking of dropping by one day and discuss with her in-person if the above question is positive :)

Hi Sinejane, can you please share Mrs Gan's phone number with me? i would like to try her and see.thanks a lot ya!!

Today, I went to Fah Num, a fabric store located opposite the big Petaling Street signboard. I bought 3 pieces of chinese brocade: 1 piece is 2.8m for a knee-length cheongsam, and 2 pieces are 3.2m each for long cheongsams. The material is gorgeous! I wish I had taken a picture before I sent it to Mrs. Gan for tailoring. The short one is a sweet pale pink, with a sakura pattern. The other 2 are black with hot pink & maroon flowers, and turquoise with silver flowers. But you have to pay for that kind of beauty & quality: RM60 per metre 0_0

I then went to Seapark PJ to see Mrs. Gan. She was very helpful. Even though I had no idea what kind of cheongsam I wanted & didn't even bring any sample designs, she was still able to come up with some suggestions & designs on-the-spot. I was slightly worried, because I can't speak Mandarin or Cantonese, and thought I might not be able to describe some of the things I had in mind, but as it turns out, she speaks good English & she totally got my meaning when I tried to explain what I had in mind, and draw the design on paper for me to confirm that was what I wanted.

So, all in all, for that 1-hour consultation, we managed to come up with 3 different designs for the different chinese brocades. I will be picking up the first piece on the 9th of July. Very excited - can't wait to see how it turns out!
