Halfing a cake recipe

Hi have anyone tried halfing a standard 8 or 9 inch round cake recipe? I don't want to bake such a huge cake. It's only for 2 person. I was wondering if I could use a 6 inch round pan for the half recipe instead. Thank you.

I do it all the time - you just need to be very careful with the measurements and note that cooking time may also vary depending on the size of your pan and temperature. It will definitely take longer to bake an 8 inch cake compared to a 6 inch.
