Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Has anyone been to Krabi, Thailand for honeymoon or for holiday?

I saw some pics on a website for Krabi and think that it looks really nice.... need some feedback on where to stay and whether it's a nice honeymoon location.

I have been to Krabi, but not for honeymoon.

It's very nice, less crowded than Phuket. The beach is nice and you can go to Phi-Phi islands too. Not sure about night entertainment though.

I stayed in a budget resort. Nothing to shout about...

phuisan,

Thanks for the info. Which hotel/resort did u stay in and which part of Krabi.. Ao Nang or Riley Beach?

Am actually looking at an air asia package which offers flights from Bangkok to Krabi and hotel stay. One of the hotel listed was Central Krabi Bay Resort and the Sheraton Krabi. Did u see any of those hotels when u were there? I read some travel forum which says that the Central Krabi Resort must take a long boat to get to Ao Nang. So am a little hesitant about that as I do not want to always be stuck in the hotel to eat... sure cut throat prices there one.

girls, sorry for late reply. Have not been logging on to the forum...

I stayed in Krabi Seaview Resort (in thier guestrooms). There are many restaurants in Ao Nang, so we didnt eat at the resort except for breakfast which is included.

Kittybride, I didnt take any package. Just book the resort and when we got there, shopped around for excursions.

i've been to Krabi 2-3 years ago, the place is stunning! u'll definately love it if u r sun, sand & beach lover!

besides of islands hoping, u must go for kayaking it is really enjoyable to see the cave tunnel. opt for the full day tour, they will bring u to a crystal clear stream for a dip. Krabi has some nice diving sites, do check out with the dive shops in Ao Nang if u r a diver. I went for several good dives with dive the world. u can find varieties of food in the town, the price is reasonable. for spa, emm.... i dunno, i didn't go for it, but i think u can easily find a good one there.

Hi.

We went there for our honeymoon and just came back from Krabi last week.

Marvelous beaches and islands. Better go now because it is still not poluted and not that commercialise.

Remember, do not sign those day trip tour package with your hotel because pricey. They have many tour agents along the ao nang beach. Can negotiate with them for the price.

Normally the day trip will start from 9am - 4pm. If you want to go to Phiphi Islands, you have to spend one whole day there. When I said PhiPhi islands, it includes few small islands, i.e. maya bay, monkey bay and etc. We manage to get negotiate for 1200 baht per person, including lunch, fruits and drinks.

Try the tour agent called Nattacha Tour. The service is not bad.

If you have another full day in Krabi, you can try their 4 islands day trip also. These four islands are the nearest islands to Krabi and they consists of Phranang Beach, Chicken Island, Tup Island and Poda Island.

We got 800 baht per person, including lunch, fruits and drinks.

They have other day trip packages going to different island, i.e. James Bond Islands and Hong Islands. We do not have enough time to go for the remaining islands.

You can rent a motorbike at ao nang beach. 1500 baht per motor and per day.

If you are spending your friday there, you can watch their Thai boxing as well. 800baht per person for 3 hours.

Thai massage price range from 200-300baht per hour.

Do not bring so many long pants or formal/nice clothing to Krabi. Bring your bikinis/swimwear. Some of the mat salleh man even walked around ao nang beach without any shirts. For ladies, some of them just wear bikini top with shorts.

No need to wear sports shoes also unless you want to do some jungle trekking. Bring your sunglasses and also goodsunblock and also important one - hair conditioner.

Because after your day trip to phiphi islands or 4 islands with speedboat and also after snorkelling, you definately need hair conditioner end of the day.

Thanks burgundywine and FrennieOrange for d info  ..Actually we plan to take day excursion to PhiPhi island and also do some rock climbing there since we'll be spending 3 nights there..I read that rock climbing is very famous in Krabi and every visitor should do that...we have PADI license but not sure if we gonna dive there because we're going on budget and it's been awhile since our last dive..we might need a refresher b4 our actual dive I guess..keke

Thai boxing sounds great. Where can we catch 1 and what time it normally starts on Friday?

They have only one thai boxing stadium and you will see the posters along AoNang shops. You will not miss it. Because they have a small lorry to announce that event on friday afternoon..very loud speaker. Surely can hear it.

I cant remember whether it started at 8 or 9pm. Dont worry, you can go a bit late because the first few rounds are kids thai boxing. Then the age of the boxers increased until the end of the show.

a bunch of my friends and i have also bought tix to Krabi in April 2008. which hotel do u recommend?

our preference : Ao Nang, as close to the beach as possible, convenient, cheap (less than THB120 per room per night), clean with a/c and hot shower.

Frennie, yuomi and burgundywine, mind telling me which hotels / hostels / guesthouses you stayed at?

Hi fong28,

Based on my survey, Ao Nang Beach Resort is a budget hotel located directly in front of Ao Nang beach. I will stay in Pakasai resort, which is walking distance to Ao Nang as well. I booked my package from AirAsia.com as they're offering quite a reasonable price, RM1600 for 2 persons, 4d3n. Pakasai rooms are spacious and breakfast included.

For more info on Krabi hotels, pls visit:

Enjoy researching. :D

Pakasai and Krabi La Playa are all very nearby to each other. Yes, walking distance to Aonang beach, maybe less than 5 minutes walk.

But you will still find it quite a distance from all the restaurants and shops. The reason is because, these two hotels are at the end of the Aonang beach street. As for the budget hotel, they are located at the middle of the Aonang beach street.

No need to spend so much money on the hotel because no really no time to enjoy the hotel if you plan to go for islands hopping.

I stayed at Krabi La Playa and kind of disappointed with the hotel. From the website, it looks like giant and marvelous. Unfortunately, it is not.

If you are not going there during peak season, you can book for the hotel now for first night and book the second and third night after you reach Krabi. You can even bargain for the hotel price. That's what my friend did.

It's really a nice place and I'm missing Krabi already.. Will definitely go back.. The tourists are mostly westerners..hardly find any chinese there...

Cheap tours, cheap spas, cheap & nice seafoods, nice tomyams, nice peoples, clean hotel & great staffs (Pakasai), nice beaches, nice sunset views, clean ..omg... a place that shouldn't be missed if you want to relax in style without burning a hole in your pocket...

:D

Ji Jacq and Melanieee,

My trip for 4d3n for 2 pax totalled up at RM2200 like that.. Including everything from flight, hotel, food, souvenirs, spa, and tours. Booked the goHoliday package from airasia.com

We only take 1 daytour to PhiPhi Islands...@1200baht / person

Remaining time we just loiter in the hotel and ao nang streets...plenty of foods and things to shop there..cheap french manicure and spa too just along Ao Nang beach... The hotel that we stayed provide DVD player and we can get DVDs from the reception..so when we're real tired we just watch DVD...and swim / sunbathe in hotel..

Will upload some pics later ya :)

There's alot more entertainment in Krabi which we do not have time to explore so we will definitely go back...
