Yvon 0 Report post Posted November 6, 2008 Hi all,I was thinking of going to a printer to print the words for my card and then do the deco myself. I don't know if this is more economical. Any opinions? I may need over 100 cards. Any suggestions for cheap printers near PJ and KL area? Thanks!Yvon

So not everyone needs card since some are couples and family. 150 cards may even be too much but there's the morning reception that I need to print separate and the dinner cos not everyone will be invited to the morning one mah. Kathy, thanks for your offer. May I have the contacts? I will try and see what can be done. 300-500 is waaaaayyy too many. Simple simple only.
beautifulgown 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2008 I remember I saw a member who did her own cards, she got the hei punch and use that to create the cover and for inside, you can get you own printer or any printing company to do it for you.If I were you, with a little card, I will DIY rather than get printing company to do it for you as they will charge you more. :)

I was quited RM150 for 50 pieces of printing JUST the INLAYS! Want to faint. My printer can do but I'm afraid that the ink is not so good. If kena water, can smear. You think it's okay? I'm game for DIY but scared that the printing ink isn't as good as it should be.

If normal printer, the ink kene water will smear unless is laser printer.Do you need color print for inner page?I know! I dare not reply her after she quoted the price. Cisss.... Actually, black ink enough already. Cos the paper will have colour plus some embellishments I'm planning to add. I don't have laser printer. that's the problem now. You know any printers willing to just do printing? I can cut myself and all that. just want to make sure the printing is okay, ink don't smear enough already. Of course not 150 for 50 pieces lah. Sigh sigh sigh... :P

I'm from Selangor. But you've helped a lot already! Thanks so much. Photocopy shops can meh? I'll ask and see. I wonder if photo shops cam. maybe I print one copy bu my printer then ask them to photostat. Cos photostat ink seems much better. Ahhh.... very cost efficient idea. Thanks for your idea! beautifulgown 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2008 Yvon,You can check at the photocopy shop (specialise for photocopy) some may also provide printing service. :)
Yvon 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2008 Yvon,You can check at the photocopy shop (specialise for photocopy) some may also provide printing service. :)We have one over here but they are almost always too busy to carefully take down my instructions. I always get nervous until I receive my stuff. usually they are okay. I think I'll go to a photocopier, you know, those small bookshop ones, and get them to photocopy my template. Since I want the words in black, it's not going to be a problem, I think. Hopw people don't think I'm cheapskate... LOL! Just want to be careful with the $. beautifulgown 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2008 Yvon,I will suggest you to get them 'photocopy' 1 first and see the result, if it looks good then you can go ahead with it, otherwise you need to sauce for somewhere else.Actually at first I also tot of using office's laser print photocopier (quality very good), mmm .. still thinking either to print by myself or get the service from the shop.If the quality is good, no one will discover is comes from photocopy :)

Yvon 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 Yesterday, I saw Sweet Memory photocopy A4 (min 100 pcs ) for rm0.70/per.So maybe the market price is about that level gua.Hope this info helps you to understand moreRM0.70 per sheet? I thought photocopy can get 5 cents per sheet also if many copies? I thought of going to various photocopiers and see if got blemishes (you know, those black black dots everywhere) and then gauge before settling on one. I can try to tell them la that it's for wedding card. Hopefully okay. i prefer that way so I can stand there and tell them how I want it photocopied. Paper can easily get cheap ones. Tedious part is sticking it all together and the deco. But that also easy. Getting ebellishments from crafio.com.my. All very nice :)
beautifulgown 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 I believe the 70 cent per piece is for printing, if just photocopying, even less than 5 cent also can get the service done.Yvon, you already had your card's design? yaya .. things a crafio are nice, there's another site you can try www.summer-ray.com I believe is the sister company of crafio :)

It seems that Crafio is more catered for Malaysians whereas Summer-Ray is for those overseas. The currency on the websites tell that. I'm looking for suitable envelopes for the cards. What are the average measurements? is 11x22cm the usual measurement for off-the-rack envelopes? I'm looking for ivory coloured ones but don't want to spend a bomb on them. Know anywhere in PJ where there are these sorts?Arghh... I just went through the net. So difficult to find template for Chinese wedding invitation wordings! I am not Chinese educated so very hard for me to write them but I have Chinese word programme in my PC. You think I can cut and paste from other wedding cards I have? I've some cards from friends and wonder if I can just copy copy... Aih.. then again, I can't pronounce them so I can't type the hanyu also.
genielee_83 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2008 rm0.70 is for color photocopies.usually it's about that range. If you only want black and white, then rm0.04 also can get.
Yvon 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2008 As I'm trying to design my card, I suddenly (!) realized I have many questions. Maybe this DIY is way beyond me! How do you do maps? I've seen cards with maps in it, simple ones. Are there softwares to do them? Ish ish...
Yvon 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2008 For those that DIY-ed your cards, how did you insert the Chinese wordings? Did you just type them out or is there a particular template to follow? Thanks!
