Hello there,

Just wanna share my experience with all the bride-to-be's..

I went for a makeup trial in Malacca recently and was disappointed to find that the style was a bit 'overdone'. Don't get me wrong, the makeup would look nice in photos or if your guests were to view you from a distance, e.g when you're on the stage cutting the cake.. but up close, it was way too thick & I looked more like a dancer instead of a bride! Even my fiance was a bit shocked at the outcome when he picked me up from the trial!

Another thing that I didn't like was that this MUA takes 2-3 weddings per day. Maybe I'm just fussy or too used to the MUA's here in KL, but I was quite annoyed to find that I would be given a time slot for my makeup session.. Imagine, some poor bride has to start her dinner makeup as early as 3.30pm!

Luckily, a Malaccan friend of mine introduced me to Jesz of Magic Hand. She used to work for BS Vogue before moving back to Malacca. Her makeup style is updated and natural and her accessories are simple & nice too :) Let me know if you girls want her number.

As for the other MUA, I will not mention names as he/she is quite popular with the brides here. So my advice is to either hire a MUA from KL or make a trip down to Malacca for a trial and most importantly, don't rely totally on recommendations made here in the forum! xoxo

hi Lainey,

thanks for sharing  i shall give her a call then.

hi panda1020,

ohh.. really, i din hear about this bei zhan thing...

well, i would agree with u that it is pretty hard to check when we are not in malacca... share of photo would be nice

just to share, i went to a few... last sunday, went to Increative also, it is really not bad if u are looking for natural make up but their charges is pretty high compared to the rest. RM600 for day n nite, no ampule, no lashes. went to Max as well, but it is pretty heavy make up, unless if u want something "outstanding" coz i think they are more specialised in the stage make up...

Hello all,

I got married last year and would love to give my humble opinion on MUA in Melaka.

Agnes Chong from Ambridge Cottage did my makeup and my bridesmaid. The make up

was very natural and enhanced my beauty. Many told me I had a very creative outlook

even for my dinner. I had 3 different looks. Till today, many remembered my bomb hair.

Anyway, for those of you who seek MUA, my good friend had engagged Nini from starbizz and both

of them looks ok. a Little old fashion in terms of hair decorating and make up. I personally didnt really like it.

Both Agnes and Eric are very profesional. I was concern after putting on heavy makeup, my skin will

react to it. They use branded makeup and not cheap skate make up for you. And after everything is over, you can remove easily without much trouble.

They make up for my cheemui and all RAVED about it.

Whether you want a natural or dramatic make up, it;s all discussable.

In terms of profesionalism and end result, AMbridge cottage wins hands down.

I have attended more than 10 weddings over the past 6 months, and I have seen all the make up

from various make up artist, i still love Ambridge..

If you wanna view my photos, kindly email me.

Hi.

I agree with Eldino.

I also engaged Agnes from Ambridge Cottage fo my wedding last week. She was indeed very professional and friendly. I went through a few bridal shops in Melaka Raya to look for a suitable MUA, and personally I felt that Ambridge Cottage is the best choice, after comparing their attentiveness, quality of service, price and availability with other shops.

In Creative service was also good, but price much more expensive and they don't travel out of Melaka. Starbiz is a makeup academy, service is fine but their makeup a bit kua-cheong and slightly expensive. The other bridal shops I went to are not pricey, but somehow their serivce and attentiveness just couldn't give me enough confidence t0o engage them.

Prior to the wedding day, I had a long discussion with her to tell her what kind of hairstyles and make up I prefer. Agnes was very attentive and patient and took time to show me various samples and also provided suggestion to me. My morning makeup is natural looking. At night, I requested for some smokey eye look and the effect turned out to be good, not kua-cheong

Agnes was also able to travel to Muar at night with a minimal travel charge.

I was happy with her service and the makeup and hairdo. She did makeup for my MIL and my MIL also said that Agnes was very professional. But she is sort of a perfectionist and took slightly longer time to complete my makeup and hairdo. I will strongly recommend her to anyone looking for MUA in Melaka.

Btw, Agnes and her brother Eric are the owners of Ambridge Cottage, whis is located in Melaka Raya. Can call their shop number 06-2812668

Dear all,

I got a recommendations to engage Eric from Ambridge Cottage too...but now i live to regret my decision. :sauer2:

Let me elaborate on what actually happen so that others may take more precautions while engaging responsible MUA!

I've booked them in JUN 2009 for my upcoming wedding dinner on the 28/11/2009. At then, everything was promised with their professionalism, service, accolades, etc ...

I've even put a deposit down of $225 to confirm their service on that day immediately after confirming them in JUNE.

I went for a trial make up on 30/10/2009 and also discussed on the details for the actual day!!

Today, 16/11/2009 I received a call from Eric saying tht due to last minute changes cos he 'suddenly' realised that there is another MU for a bride in Labis, I will have to compromised on my timing!! To do that, I would need to start my morning make up at 7.30am when my groom is reaching my place at 8.30 am!! and my dinner make up is going to start at 2pm when my dinner is starting at 7.30pm!! It's ridiculous and totally unacceptable !!

I'm very upset with this as he has lots of opportunity to let me know that he wasn't able to handle 2 brides on the same day, yet it was only made known to me TODAY!!! What professionalism are we talking about on his service and where is the responsibility!! Now, I'm left with so last minute choices and still have to deal with such un-ethical business etiquette from them both...it's like, you have to compromised to their timing when the fault clearly lies with lack of planning on their side!!

So please all bride to be's.. when dealing with make up artists, do get their commitment to serve you full heartedly so that there is no such crappy stuff that comes up from them...!!

And for those brides who had a favorable feedback for Ambridge, well...all I can say is that there have 1 less 'client' and I will make sure that everyone of my friends knows about what happen to me!! :sauer2:

Hi,

I am a Malacca-KL bride. So I engaged MUA in Malacca to follow me to KL for the wedding reception make-up as well.

I like my MUA make-up because I found it very natural (I don't like dark make-up).

My MUA is Jane Swee, she is a beatician too, so she has her saloon in Kampung Lapan (near the Tuesday pasar malam area in Kg Lapan).

I have a few photo taken by my friend on her make up & hair style (morning ceremony).

She also done 3 different style for me during my wedding dinner reception in KL.

If any of you girls interested, you all can PM me for her contacts & photo.

I am still waiting for my AD photo from my photographer, so only limited photo available at this moment.

Hi,

Im a bride to be in March next year. I've booked Eva goh from Malacca (she's a new freelance make up artist). I went to try her trial make up then only made decision. Satisfy with the trial make up. Simple yet suite my taste. I don't want those 'overdone" make up. Initially I went to Ambridge Cottage and Starbizz. Starbizz a bit heavy. But Ambridge Cottage seems very pack for their schedule. Thinking to find a make up artist that suite your time on the big day instead of rushing style.

Her package included double mask facial treatment and ampoule. Quit worth in a way.

PM me if you need more details of her.

Hi all,

Sorry for the absence as I seldom patronize this page due to obvious reasons. I was done with

my wedding..Hehehe..

Anyway, due to many response asking me for photographs, My advise is to discuss your make up

style and preference with your Make Up artist. Because every bride has different personality and also

the theme they are looking at. My photos are outdated already since it's more than 1.5 years already.

Some ppl likes to be the princess of the day while some would love to be dramatic..hehe..

I had all the looks though...

So basically, its really up to you. Just go for a trial make up and pay the Make Up artist for their

work. Then decide for yourself. Make an appointment to be guaranteed time allocated for you to discuss

about the make up and the package available.

If you choose a real auspicious day, and you know it's going to be fully book.

Try to book early to avoid disappointments.

Hope my advice helps.

I still go to Ambridge for their personal make up whenever Im attending any functions or wedding.

And yes. they still do a fantastic job each time.
