Klinik Ibu Mengandung & Kanak-Kanak

Recommended Posts

Dear Mb,

Currently I am 2 months pregnant and wish to know further details on Klinik Ibu Mengandung & Kanak-Kanak. As this is my first pregnancy, I do not know exactly what should I do to make sure that my baby is fine. I realised that i am pregnant when Dr. did an urine test on me when i was really sick, and i told her that i missed my period by a day. As she said she's going to prescribe "strong" medication for my migraine, she advised me to do the urine test before she proceed to prescribe the said medicine.

Although me and hubby wish to have baby, but it was a surprise to get that happy news. After married since Dec 2008, we have proctected sex until we think we want to have babies. After finding out that i am pregnant, we went to normal Klinik Wanita for further check-up, the Dr. has scanner, so, during of mytwice visit, she scanned and i can see a black dot in my uterus. After the second check-up (that also because i tripped and fall) the Dr. didnt advise me to go back for follow-up.

Thru another thread, i get some info here and there, finally thinking that Columbia Asia hospital is good, decided to make an appointment with Dr. Ng. The appointment has been made, but so sad to say that nurse call me to say that Dr. Ng will be taking leave on that particular Saturday. So, the appoitnment was cancelled.

I went back to my parents home yesterday, mom told me that i should check-up at Klinik Ibu Mengandung then when reaching 7 months, to decide which Dr. to engage. Further, she told me that during the economy slowdown, it's better that i be prepared if ever i can't afford to go to private clinic.....me and hubby also scare of retrenchment because the industry we are in are fragile.

I guess it's a good idea too because we can get the check-up with lesser cost and mom told me that we will be given a booklet to record our baby progress throughout the term. According to one of my colleague, she find it comfortable getting treatment from Klinik Ibu Mengandung.

However, i face a problem because i can't get the directory to contact certain Klinik Ibu Mengandung because we can't just go to any of the Klinik, must be the one near to the place that you are staying with proof from i/c or cukai taksiran....i called the KL directory and they couldnt help me with the PJ contact. Any one mother to be that getting check-up from klinik ibu mengandung? and may i know exactly what should be done?

At the very moment, i am taking folic acid and nothing else. I heard from my colleague that the Dr. in Klinik Ibu Mengandung will do few test before prescribing medicine for pregnant lady (i.e blood test - maybe to detect the rhesus, urine test for diabetis & protein and etc). She asked me to check again since that was few years ago.

So, any MB can help? Please share as i am lost....mom said that the previous one in my area has been demolished and do not know where they have moved to. Thanks

ice anise,

what my friend did for her 2nd bb in order to save cost is that

she went to normal clinic which got ultrasound to check up.

Cheaper than going to see gynae... however, u might miss out those

test u might want to do during ur 1st trimester eg triple test

etc... then later around 7 months pregnant.. she start her check up at University Hospital.

Dear charliz,

Thank for the info, i saw the same website also but it stated poliklinik komuniti, that's why i feel bit weird....because my colleague is mentioning Klinik Ibu Mengandung...are they the same?

Dear ais,

because i am reaching 30, they say it's better to do the specific test early to detect whether baby is ok...and my colleague told me that klinik ibu mengandung did the test as well.....so, instead of going to normal clinic with scan, was thinking to have another alternative....

Anyhow, thanks alot for informative input :-)

Hi ice Anise, i did my check up in Klinik Ibu and Kanak DBKL since 4 months pregnancy. yeah u need to refer to your address to do the heck up with the nearest klinik.

before u go to the klinik, u need to go there and check with them which day is the register day for new mom. in DBKL, Tuesday for registration and both tuesday and thursday for check up.

what my experience are:

1. go there register, pay RM 5 for registration.

2. u will check urine, blood pressure, weight, nurse will check your belly to hear heart beat and baby position (after 6 months).

3. if u hv diabetes family background, will request to do glucose test in hospital.

4. they will give u 2 doses of tetanus toxoid in the whole pregnancy check up

5. give u obimin, vitamins every of your check up.

6. will do ultrasound once or twice in the whole pregnancy.(frankly speaking, i found hospital ultrasound is more detail than private hospital)

so thru out my pregnancy check up until i give birth, so far i only pay RM5 which is the registration fee. the rest is FREE!!!

i found lucky i went to both private and govern hospital to check. End up i give birth is HKL cause i need to go for caeseran due to baby in breech position so since both side same advice end up i choose HKL. and i really save alot. i only Pay RM 595.

until today, my bb hv injection in DBKL klinik is totally free. so u wont loss anything if u go to do check up in Klinik Kesihatan. Atleast u hv choice last minutes.

thanks ogosdream,

your info is very much appreciated. I think should take leave to register myself but need to find the actual location i need to go, if not, end up wasting my time to search for the nearest clinic. That's what my mom told me too, go to klinik ibu mengandung first. I couldnt ignore that there are possibility of me giving birth in government hospital since economy is rather bad now....better save some for baby after birth. All depends on situation and i totally agreed to have double check-up as well....

Thanks alot ogosdream :-)

Dear ice,

I just gav birth at government hosp. All this while i only do my check up at government clinics and to be honest, their service is really not bad.they will check properly and refer you to specialist if there is anything wrong throughout pregnancy.Spent 6 days at hospital during labour due to poor progress.from early pregnancy til now, i didn't pay a single cent.so its worth it to consider government clinic and hospital especially during bad economy.

Just my thought..

yeah i do agreed about their details ultrasound..

currently i'm going to private and gov check up together...

most of the time, my gynae will only scan bb heart, backboned, head size, tummy size and thigh..

then when i did my ultrasoun scan at UH, i saw the lady there trying searching for 2 oval thingys..

to get the measurement.. i was freak out... i asked her wat is that... and she told me

it's my bb kidneys... phew... scared me leer..

yeah, i did my ultrasound in HKL, at that time i already know my bb in breech position but when i go for the ultrasound i dont want to mentioned. the Dr who carry out the ultrasound really check it properly and do alot of measurement. it takes me 30 minutes to do the ultrasound.

compare to private, only check heartbeat and measure the length. less than 10 minutes.

i'm doing my checkup in klinik kesihatan rite now.what i can suggest you is u go to nearest hospital for pesakit luar then u ask them where is the Klinik Ibu dan anak.Rite here in kedah we call it Klinik Desa i think its differ in aother state.so far the is no problem for me.the nurse are super nice, waiting hour is ok,and since i already got a ultrasound from private they dont scheduled me for another session untill 28 weeks.and i've never paid anything yet.

but i'm planning the get another ultrasound today from private clinic my husband really wanna see our baby.

Dear MB,

Hubby manage to make an appointment for Klinik Kesihatan near Taman Sri Manja. Parents in law stay nearby. Basically, the nurse ask us to bring our registration certificate, electric/water bill, i/c of hubby and myself and a pen.

I went on friday. The overall process took about 3 hours...not that the waiting period is long this time, it's just that there's a lot of test to go thru....

I reach about 7.45am, can start take number and wait until 8.15am, they call my name and start to weight me and measure my height. Thereafter, verified those particular that they ask us to bring along. Then, measure my blood pressure. Ask me to go to another counter for urine test and hemoglobin test. Wait for a moment and go to another counter for blood test....i'm scare of blood but when the nurse said that she can't find my veins and keep poking....yup, it's painful but at that moment, i hope she can get enough blood for the test....then wait for a moment for check-up, nurse ask me to take off my bra, rest on the bed, doing breast check-up for me while explaining whether my breast are suitable for breastfeeding or not. Thereafter, teach me how to breast feed, how to breastfeed more effectively without pain. Then advise me on what to eat, not to wear tight slack and prescribe me folic acid which need to be taken at pharmacy unit.

Thereafter, the nurse ask me to proceed to Klinik Pergigian to check my teeth. I registered at the Klinik Pergigian, just above the Klinik Kesihatan, wait about 10mins, Dentist attend to me, advise me on proper cleaning of teeth because during pregnancy cannot extract any rotten tooth. She's good, apologise when she accidentally poke on my gums....i mean, rather than those who will say "sakit sikit pun tak boleh tahan ke!!"

So, overall process took about 3 hours, form 7.45am to 10.30am

Thanks for all the advice, i just want to share my experience here. i was scheduled for check-up amonth after the previous check-up, hopefully everything will be ok :-)

Hi ice,

I am 13 weeks pregnant now. I also do both check up at private and gov clinic. What i can said about GOV clinic is "Thumb UP" to them. Yesterday was my 2nd visit at the clinic near my office (Batu Ferringhi Penang). They are normal clinic actually but Ibu and anak only on Tue and Doctor only come on Thur. Since i wanna ask Doc for some advise so tomorrow i will be going again. I was so impress at my first visit. Actually house in Sungai Petani, for those who know SP and PG is about 1 hour away and diff state. The clinic can refuse my check up in PG. hahaha.. I show them my pay slip and also the clinic for IBU and ANAK only on TUE which is my working hour so they accept. After the 1st visit they had called me up 2 twice said wanna come to visit me at home. Oh.. from PG to SP too far.. finally I give them the SP IBU and ANAK clinic address and phone nearest to my house. I think by this weekend SP clinic might call me for visit.. Anyone know why they need to visit ? 13 weeks only lo...

my wife registered with klinik desa for ibu & kanak2 nearby our housing since the day we knew that we may have new member coming soon.

1st time registration RM5 and thereafter everything is FOC. but during the 1st visitation, i dunno why we was told to pay RM15 for some vitamin tablets, which my wife is not taking it at all. anyway is small amount so we did not argue much with them.

we always keep the option open and not restricting ourself with private hospital.

not sure out there how many done the follow up treatment with Klinik Desa... bcos some of my frens somehow are laughing at us by doing so.

apizy,

it is normal that they will prescribe vitamins for pregnant women (folic acid + multivitamins) be it private or govt hospital. folic acid is essential especially during 1st trimester to lower the risk of baby developing neural tube defects. do google & you'll get more info.

as for your friends laughing, you can ignore them. what's wrong with going to govt hospital for check ups?? many mommies here go there for check ups.

janicelly,

yeah... is multivitamin but she chucked it aside... bcos as of now, she has a lot of tablets, capsules and powder form kind of vitamins/booster or watever you call it to be consumed everyday.

as for my friends, i told them this is extra option and it would cost a bomb like private hospital, so why not?

so far she visited the klinik 3 times and tomorrow is the 4th vistitation. i noticed some went after 20+ weeks and got lectured from the klinik's nurse. of course, we did not tell them that we are also visiting private gynae as we do not want them to think of... something that we treat them as sub-standard service. (but i think they do know many of us have private gynae)

you can call us kiasu... we went both on scheduled time without fail unless there are valid reason for us not to turn up.

as of now while i'm posting, my wife at klinik desa waiting for the doctor. she's there early this morning around 7.30am and until now the doctor has not yet arrive. sad to say, this is Malaysia... but nothing we can do about it but to wait. pity her waiting there alone... but she has Nintendo DS Lite to keep her company. kekekekekeke....

during my whole pregnancy, i went to klinik kesihatan also & no need to pay a single cents !!

thumb up from me & but as for waiting.. if can opt for afternoon session.. lesser people.

even now, my bb take his injection there and i think i save $$$ if i go private klinik for his shot !

Base on my experience, GH always give priority to pregnant ladies and babies... take medicine from pharmacy unit also no need to take number one
