You should be given some pills. Usually folic acid, iron tablet and vit c but they may be out of stock. You have to ask them. In every visit, they will do urine check (protein and sugar}, weight, BP and uterine height by palpation. Ultrasound may or may not be done. They will colour code you and depend on the colour they will sent you to see doctor / hospital for specialist.

In the klinik, only the nurses will attend to us and not the dr?

Ya. Dr only see high risk cases. But I thought you got twin and should be at least yellow tag. You should be seen at least at the hospital with specialist. Maybe the KKIA just want to keep track on you. The more important follow up is the specialist follow up. For twin they should have see you every 2-4 weeks.

Dear All,

I just came back from my FIRST visit to Poliklinik Komuniti Kelana Jaya- Klinik Ibu Mengandung dan Kanak-kanak. I'm currently 8Weeks pregnant and did once private gynae check due to suspected ectopic but found ok. I went 7.30 and alraedy got number 17. I brought along my marriage cert, hubby's IC copy,My Kelana Jaya house electricity bill to prove my address and my own IC. They register me after taking Height, Weight and Blood Pressure. I'm tagged under Green even I'm asthma patient and primigravida. Then they refer me to urine and blood test.(Forever painful experience for me to take blood sample as my vein are super tiny, :dash2: ) After everything done, counselling session with nurse. Not to wear high heel  Not to wear too tight  Not to carry heavy stuff, balance meal intake and bla bla bla. They want me to go for dental check on Monday or Friday. Nurse also requested me to come back for check up one day before I leave to Australia to make sure I'm fit to travel. I meet Medical Officer after their advise session(maybe I'm asmatic  )Last step is the Pharmacy session to take my Folic Acid.

TOTAL HOURS SPENT: 7.30am-9.45am

FEES: RM0 as nobody ask any fees from me (Dont know why)

Dear all,

I have 2 questions, can anyone answer me ?

2. Does gov clinic give ultrasound scan

1. no antenatal classes. they do give quick briefings on how to breastfeed & bathe newborn baby. (u can google for giving birth videos, it'll prepare u for the delivery. nurses will also tell u when to push)

2. no ultrasound scan. if u hv complications, they'll refer u to hospital. if u want ultrasound, they'll recommend u go to private clinic for the ultrasound. just step into any gynae office & ask for ultrasound, they'll charge abt RM100.

hi all, i am currently 7 weeks pregnant. I am planning to go for my first check up next week. This is my first pregnancy and I really not sure where I suppose to go. I heard of many bad things on private hospital too. I am staying at KL area. If i intend to go government hospital, should I go to HKL? HKL under which section? which day I should go? what document I should bring? One more thing is, besides breast check, do they do pap smear or pelvic exam test in HKL?

Anyone had experience in HKL please let me know...thanks!

one more thing is...if i wanna deliver in private clinic, can i choose again when i am around 7-8 months pregnant...i am thinking of c-sec because I scare of the vaginal delivery process :(

You can't just walk straight to O&G department HKL. You need a referral. Usually from a private GP, specialist or from KKIA. You can register yourself at your nearest DBKL KKIA clinics.

They do PAP smear at HKL but why go there and wait 4-5 hours just to do PAP smear. Pap smear available in all GP clinics and LPPKN clinic.

If you want to take advantage of private and public care see this link:

http://www.malaysiabrides.com/forum/index....st&p=264559

When you are in active labour, you can go to any public hospitals, they won't reject you but you can't request C section because most gov hospitals only do C section when medically indicated.

Of course you can still do in private because just the matter of money. Before decide C section talk to the doctor for pro and con of this mode of delivery.

I ended up checking at metro maternity hospital in klang last saturday. the doc did ultrasound scanning both abdominal and vaginal. It costs rm100 (with medication). I think it is quite reasonable. Government hospital is also good as far as I concern. Since my hubby can't take leave on weekdays to accompany me to the clinic, i have to choose private hospital.

hi all,

did an ultrasound last week at Klinik Ibu Mengandung Medan Maju Jaya....since they tie-up with some college for the trainer to practice how to scan and determine the baby organ correctly, i am one of the specimen....hahaha

But i am impressed with government facility and equipment leh....the sonographer actually did a 3D and 4D scan for me also, then burn into a CD for my safe keeping without charging me a single cents! Further, they measure everything, even show me my bb nostrils and nose bone. But since bb kepit the legs, cannot determine the gender yet.

The process took about 2 hours altogether because 45min, i am with the student and 2 examiner ( i am the specimen), thereafter, a sonographer did the scanning for 2nd time for me....i am happy because now, everyday i can replay the 4D scan and c my bb....however, still scare because coming month i need to do the glucose test....i am overweight actually....just keep my finger cross.

Excellent, you have found a value for money place. Actually there are lots of value for money places. You get the same excellent service as the major hospital (some even better) but you pay little or fraction of the fee. Big name doesn't mean better.
