Klinik Ibu Mengandung & Kanak-Kanak

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I think u have misunderstood my questions.

What I meant was, is it necessary for preggers to go to KKIA for health records purposes?

Is it necessary for the health ministry to keep records of every malaysian preggers for their own purposes?

And By not attending KKIA will it do any differences?

Actually a lot of ppl are going to both private and government for checkups, not only preggers, but also normal body checkup.

I just want to know by going to gov, besides cost saving, what are the other benefits and importances.

Thank You

No, it is not necessary. In Klang Valley, the KKIA clinics are run by DBKL and hospitals are run by MOH. Both of them don't share record.

KKIA also don't keep records as they will give you an antenatal book (the pink book) to carry around.

They only keep record for post delivery home visiting (for some high risk cases). After that your record will go to archive and will never seen / being retrieved again.

Even for normal body check up, this is only available in certain hospital on request.

The difference of KKIA and private care are:

KKIA

Care by nurses / medical officer

May not have ultrasound

Lots of lectures like breast feeding, postnatal care etc

Community based care

Risk stratification before referral

Free supplement / immunization

Postnatal Home visit (available by request / high risk case)

Zero / low cost

Private care

Care by same specialist

Ultrasound each visit

None, if available usually with cost.

Individual based care

Generally depend on ability of specialist

Supplement / immunization with cost

Postnatal Home Visit not available

High cost

hi,

can i know is there any charges if we request for the post natal home visit service from KKIA?

im currently staying at kota damansara wit hubby, however my parents is staying at ampang. i am wondering which kkia shud i go?

this is bcoz i heard abt the post natal home visit, and i plan to stay ampang for my confinement. am kinda in dilemma which one i shud go now :(

hello,

im stayed at kota damansara too, may i know where is the nearest KKIA ?

hopefully anyone could reply me asap ! thks

hi jessie,

i'm not from selangor therefore i x answer ur first question but u can always check d jabatan kesihatan's website for the list of KK in Selangor n call them to ask which KK dat covers ur area. about registering at 13 weeks there shouldn't be a prob.if u hv a doctor's letter/prove dat u're pregnant then d KK will proceed with ur registration n first check-up which includes taking down ur background/history,weight,height,urine test, blood test, etc.if u dun hv any pregnancy prove though they will first ask u to do urine test to confirm ur pregnancy n then followed by d normal check-up.

i hope all d KK's procedures r d same.they r suppose to be standard aren't they? congratulations to u!!

hi all,

i'm TTC now.. I want to know if its ok to do antenatal checkups at Klinik Kesihatan from 1st month till 6 to 7 months then go to private hospitals for further checkups on 8th months onwards then delivery also at private hospital? reason being my company only covers checkups from 8th month onwards and RM3k for delivery.

Since I heard the service provided by klinik kesihatan is not bad plus the fees much much lower than private hospitals, i dont mind going there for antenatal checkups. plus, i can deliver at govt hospital if i have complications too, right?

also, just wondering if i choose to do checkups alternate months or concurrently at klinik kesihatan and private hospital, is still alright? the gynae at private hospital wont mind huuh?

Just went to my first visit to Klinik Kesihatan and got my Pink book :) Plan to continue cause the nurses and midwives there are helpful in information. Besides, the clinic offer free workshop like breast feeding.

At the same time I am still going to visit my gynae (private)

I just went to KKIA Kelana Jaya yesterday, the nurses and doctors there are nice and helpful, although a lot of people but the process is not too slow... after took the number, waited for ur turn to take weight and height measurement, then blood pressure... dunno y yesterday i was so nervous until my bp suddenly went up... d nurse asked me dun be nervous and chit chat wif me 1st to make me relax... after that went to take urine test, waited for my turn to take blood test also... after that waited for turn to c the nurse, the nurse check my breast and taught me how to check my breast at home... she measures baby's height and heart beat as well... after that told me what shud eat more what shud not eat... then advised me must breastfeeding which i think is good... then refer me to c doctor... doctor asked me to go for detailed scanning by giving me a referrel letter... overall process took abt 2 hrs... will go for scanning next wk...

after that went to take supplement... all is free...

i think i'll still continue go checkup there :) will go private as well... thumbs up for the government service... hope they will keep it up!!!!

hmm... mich_800 the nurses there teach u so many things one.. in my case, i did checkup & deliver at private. only 1st time bringing my bb for 1st mth injection at kkia at kuchai lama. i do agree that the nurses there are nice & friendly. but they didnt teach me so many things also. somemore must keep the own urine bottle (new one given on my visit there) & bring it whenever i visit them. if not have to used those there. eww..

they just weight baby, check height, head size, check baby physically, & test my urine, bp & blood (1st time for hiv & hemoglobin count). then advice a bit on family planning & checked my c-sec area a bit.. then advice bla bla bla.. as per written inside the booklet. nothing much la

I'm in my 32nd week and I practiced what you just described. KKIA was my main checkup since I felt it is more detailed compared to private. However since I still opt to deliver at private so I also need to go private for checkup, but I only went around once in 2 months. But from 8 month onwards I go to private according to gynae's instruction, which is once in every 2 weeks.

My gynae at private hospital was ok that I did not go so regularly, but I'm not sure if all private gynae are like that. I heard that some private gynae may not like it, so better to test your private gynae first.. miss your appointment for 1 month and see if he/she say anything. Ha ha. Maybe you can just say you are outstation so cannot go so frequently loh.

Hi everyone,

I want to ask whether i can get postnatal care (nurse come house checking baby and mum during pantang period) from KKIA after i deliver at private hospital? Currently i going both private and KKIA for check up. I having buku pink from KKIA. The reason I no go government hospital for deliver, is because the government hospital near my place here very bad service. I want to apply for FPP at hospital putrajaya but full already.

So sad that i have to spend alot money to go private hospital.

Besides, in pantang month, baby need to hv any injection? Sorry that i am 1st pregnancy. So many things not clear.

Thank you.
