strinq 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2009 Some of you might have watched this but i only watched it recently... Had some tears in my eyes after watching the Connie clip. Her voice is so pure and innocent. And the other is the Paul Potts clip. Proof that you dreams do come true and that anyone can become a star.Connie Talbot singingPaul Potts singing

meiteoh 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2009 There are heaps more like her out there...just that they sometimes get overlooked and cast aside in favour of younger, "prettier" not-so-talented individuals. Paul Potts is a good example. He was BGT 2007's winner and prior to auditioning, he was a salesman who wanted to be an opera singer. He would have never scored a contract partly because of his looks, but boy has he got talent. Have you checked out Andrew Johnston (seen here singing Pia Jesu for his audition)? He's just a kid who loves singing classical music and in school, he gets bullied...in fact, he has been bullied since he was six, his parents are separated and etc.The amazing part about all this is that these people have never EVER gone for any formal training. strinq 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2009 Actually if I'm not mistaken Paul Potts did went for training before. And Susan Boyle sang for a charity cd before so i've the feeling she might have some small training before.
meiteoh 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2009 Well, it says that he sang with a choir and such - same with Andrew Johnston, but somehow I can't bring myself to think of that as formal training, especially when it's opera. But then again, I could be wrong. Whatever it is, he and these other people aren't professionals. And that says a lot. EDIT: I stand corrected. Just dig some digging around and read that Paul Potts went for a week long of training. But I still stand by what I said - he isn't a pro. Dunno about Susan Boyle though.
