Hi guys,

I tried to contact this Sila the Bali driver via email twice requesting a quotation for his service and I have no luck in getting his reply back. I just wonder those who contacted him before did you get any answer back?

Yes, Sila and his drivers can get pretty busy. On the first day my driver was Wayan Herry, and on the second day he got sick so I got Dean. At Uluwatu, I met Sila. Very nice people and very professional, although Herry is very new so he tends to be the quietest of them all. Dean is a great tourguide. Sila is like the leader of the group, but give Dean a try, he'll give you a good time too...

I also went to Anika Spa, but I found that their massages are quite "weak"... if you like it "painful" tell them to use more energy :P Anika's prices are OK but they are clean (my #1 requirement). After the treatment they serve you a wonderful ginger tea.. the best in Bali I have to say!!

The first day I got there, we didn't have a driver but we walked around Kuta ourselves, and we found a very good restaurant. It's not cheap but we're vegetarians and they were able to accommodate our needs. The restaurant is called Kunyit Bali, and it is actually owned by Hotel Santika on Jalan Kartika Plaza (which is also very beautiful, but the beach front is under construction), so the tax for this restuarant is rather high (21%) because it is part of the hotel.

Also, the drivers have this book in their vans, but if you want to prepare ahead of time get this book... It is full of pictures and concise explanations of the cuture and places that the drivers will bring you to.

hi all

i've been to bali this January with fiance. 4D3N

must say it's a very good place for honeymoon. in line with our travel style, we din go on a package. just got AirAsia tickets, without any booking for tours/accommodation, and off we went!

tourism is the core of Bali ppl's income. but i must say it has gone down after the incidences of bombs there.therefore i don think u will end up unable to find a place to stay or what.
drivers, u can flag down any blue taxi there, and just ask them to go by meter. u can't go wrong. but need to be clear with any extra charges for waiting time, n make sure u record the meter readings before u hop down to ur destination or else they might go somewhere els while u're visiting the place n charge the extra miles on u.

We din like the hustle or nightlife stuff in Kuta, so we spent more time in the peaceful Ubud. We stayed in a guest house which has a standard of a hotel room i must say, at RM30 per person per night. but if u want more luxurious accommodations, u can always find a hotel. By avoiding the nightlife area in Kuta, i guess u avoid the places with highest risk of bombing incidence too.

places to visit/ things to do:
1. Tanah Lot (1 hour from Kuta) - nice n unique temple n sunset view.
2. Seafood candlelight dinner in Jimbaran, on the sandy beach (the food is great, but do realise that the restaurants there on the whole stretch of beach are divided into cheap, midrange and expensive ones - think should go for the midrange one - reasonable n enjoyable - let ur driver know)
3. Ubud - peaceful cultural town. everywhere is within walking distance there.
- Spa - spa packages there are terribly cheap n GREAT!! - we went to Zen Spa. 2 hours package for
RM40+ only! imagine that! and for those going for honeymoon, u can opt for the couple room.
- shopping - lots of shops here for u to shop till u drop! there's an art market here also but i find the price
is more expensive and the quality of things are not that good compared to in the shops
along the roads. so better go from shop to shop.
- Kecak dance - fire dance. some ppl find it scary though. but we didn't.
4. Gunung Batur - it's a volcano which is still active! most ppl will just take a car to a viewpoint and see a
panoramic view of G. Batur and G. Abang. But an alternative is to climb up G. Batur and
enjoy the nice cool weather, unique scenery on the volcano, cook an egg up there buy
burying it into the ground, and have a majestic view of sunrise from there. U have to
wake up at 3am and depart from Ubud, reach there by 4am, 2 hours of climb (i would say
it's not very tough nor very easy), enjoy sunrise at 6am, walk around up there, then
come down by 9-10am.

There are lots of shops in Kuta for shopping as well.

hope that helps.

Oh ya, wanted to go c dolphin in Lovina but we din hav enuff time.

We went to Bali for our honeymoon end of May, 4D3N as well. We stayed in Ubud and we did not regret one bit! We stayed at the Ubud Village Resort and Spa, the resort is SUPER NICE. Very very romantic. It is around 10 mins away from the Ubud town, but the resort has shuttle service every hour to and fro the town.

We hired a driver to bring us around. We arrive Bali in the afternoon, the driver took us to Jimbaran for late late lunch (NEVER go Jimbaran for lunch... I wouldn't recommend any of you to eat there as the seafood there are not fantastic. We can get better seafood here in Malaysia, moreover, it is very very expensive). Then on our way to the resort, we stopped at those Silver craft villages. We checked into the resort at around 6.30 p.m. and we were pleasantly surprised when the resort gave us 1 complimentary dinner, 3 complimentary hi-tea voucher, 3 complimentary breakfast and 1 complimentary massage. They serve sumptuous dinner and breakfast. We had dinner at the resort on the first night.

2nd day: The driver came at around 11.00. He brought us to those paddy fields, Kintamani for the volcano, of course we went to some of those temples. The driver dropped us off the resort at around 6.00. Then we took the 7.00 shuttle bus to the town to have dinner. We had dinner at this restaurant called Lotus. Food are nice. Ambience is GREAT and price is on the higher but reasonable side.

3rd day: We went to the Ubud town oursleves. We walked around, shop around, visited the Ubud market, bought ALOT of beaded stuffs and also visitited their palaces. Really really nice place. We had simple lunch at one of those cafe. But our dinner was good. We went to this place called Bebek Begil (translated to Dirty Duck). I had their duck. Mind you, I am not a person who enjoy eating duck, but I find their duck SUPER Yummy. They steamed the duck, then later deep fry it. YUMMY. the price is also on the higher but reasonable side. Oh, by the way, ambience is GREAT as well. After our dinner, we went back to the resort, had a quick shower, then went for their massage. SUPER DUPER nice. especially after one day of shopping/walking :)

4th day: We check out at around 10.00. Our driver came at around 11.00. The driver brought us to the Sanur beach, then later brought us to Tanah Lot, then Denpasar, Seminyak area and lastly the famous Kuta beach. We didn't like the beaches as we believe we have got nicer beach over here in Malaysia. We didn't like the Denpasar/Seminyak/Kuta coz those places are too noisy and crowded. Too tourist-ty to our liking. As for our lunch, we had ours at this local warong (coffee shop), we wanted to try their babi guling, but was sold out. Nevertheless, the food there was good.
Our flight was at 8.00 so, after staying at Kuta for around 2 hrs, the driver dropped us off at the airport at around 6.00.

It was a fun filled trip. We totally enjoyed it.

Has anyone tried the 'sea walker' water sport in Bali? I am quite interested to give it a try! Quite expensive around US$60++ including set menu lunch. My HB prefers this to snorkelling because he doesn't know how to swim! :P Please share your experience with me ! :D

However, I would like to know more about planning on that trip. Where can I get the contacts of the hotels and guide?

We would prefer peaceful Ubud, not busy Kuta. Where do see dolphins in Lovina? Anyone has experience?

Can contact me thorugh IM / Email? sheeeng (at) hotmail.com

Thank ya!

Hi there,

For those of you who yearn to travel to Bali and stay in one of those luxurious villas, take heart, it's not as expensive as you think. The price is comparable to 4/5-star hotels but the comforts, service and privacy are impeccable. Most of them come with your own private pool , 5-star amenities and the most breathtaking view. Rates starting from S$180 (with private pool) depending on period of the year . Last minute rates and packages for family and honeymooners are also available.

For those who wish to hold a function, wedding etc, we also have special rates for you.

These are some of the creme de la creme villas in Bali and I am sure you will agree with me after looking at these photos. If you wish to book a villa for your stay in Bali or for further enquiry, please email me (villahaven@gmail.com) or skype me at villahaven.

U mean the Royal Bali Beach Club at Jimbaran Bay / Candidasa?

The Royal resorts are affiliates with my time sharing vacation club.

So, I've booked the one in Jimbaran Bay this coming October. It looks very nice though and it seems it's within walking distance to the Jimbaran Beach seafood restaurants.
Chcek out the website for the pics:

Hi Chris,

In Bali, I have only been to Amankila http://www.amanresor...ome.aspx?id=296
I highly recommend it. It is a bit pricey but is exceptional. I would say, if Pangkor Laut is rated A, Amankila is A++.
It's the best trip I have had in my life so far. I felt like I was in heaven when the sun rose, with all the shades of green and blue and gold.
The service is very good and all rooms/villas have a lot of privacy.

Fine details are everywhere e.g. exotic fruits bowl, the little girls giggling and laughing while practising their dance, the aromatic flowers in the gardens...You won't feel like doing too much but just lazying around.

Well, if you want to, you can also get out and take a walk around the resort. I went whiet water rafting and had a picnic breakfast watching the sunrise.

It's an experience you both will never forget. That is how I feel everytime I remember Amankila in Bali.

:))

aliciang,

there's exiting thread on Bali. you may read the thread here :- http://www.malaysiabrides.com/forum/Bali-H...nner-t1642.html

by the way, sometime it's depend on your own preference on which 1 is better. among the ppl that i know, some prefer bali over phuket and some prefer phuket over bali... but regardless of that, they do agree that bali is quite a good place for honeymoon. :)

Hi Aliciang,
I also chosen Bali as my honey moon. I went to Bali for honey moon last month. We stay at Bali for a week...is a romantic place. We just bought air ticket from Air Asia when promotion period. So the air ticket cost RM500 for 2 way 2 person. We only hotel for first nite then the rest we find the hotel when we reach there. We buy a map there and rent a car. So we travel ourself by using the map. So total we spent RM2000 for hotel, shopping, spa, food, travel for a week. So is a wonderful and fantastic trip. We choose villa as our hotel. The villa we choosen is the villa recommended by travel forum. so is cheap but great. :P
So if both of u are brave enough, u can travel Bali by ur own rather than take any travel package. ;)
