nckeat 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2009 jocelyn,no sperm at all? I have heard before low sperm count, no sperm at all is something new to me..... Azoospermia means no sperm found.Oligospermia means less than normal sperm found (normal range 20 million sperm / ml)In any case of subfertility 30% could be due to male factor. That's why we need the couple to be investigated. The male partner need to do some semen fluid analysis. This kind of subfertility cannot be solved with ovulation induction drug like clomid.Male factor need to be solved with ICSI method. Not even IVF.ICSI is intracytoplasmic sperm injection where ONE sperm is injected into the ovum to cause fertlization.Azoospermia may be cause by blockage of duct at the testis or inability to produce sperm.Sometime to solve this problem the male may have to go through some biopsy of the testis in order to get that ONE sperm for the ICSI.Usually done in specialised centre and you can imagine the bill, minimum you need to save 50K. nckeat 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2009 The big one la.Private: Damansara fertility centre, SJMC, Glenaegle etcPublic or research centre: HUKM (go private wing), HKL (they do in SJMC I think but cost discount 60%) but they choose their patient.ICSI may need multiple specialist: Urologist, O&G specialist so it is only done in well established centre. IVF CANNOT solve this problem so don;t go to those small centre which offer IVF only. Partner age also a factor. If the female age more than 35, success rate is reduced. If more than 40, very markedly reduced.

Andre 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 Today just went for our first session in UMSC with Prof. Eugene. Quite comfortable with him as he didnt press for unnecessary test even though he offer it to us. On top of that, Im quite surprised by the amount Im being charged for what he had done. We did blood test, urine test, scanning, consultation and medication for a total of RM260+. Now that makes me feel like DSH is slaughtering us during our first visit when we are being charged RM220 for consultation and scanning alone.
jacqline 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 andre, mine is more exp i think. I seen dr eugene @ umsc last mth & did pap smear & ultrasound only.. everything all together already around 250. Nevertheless, their price is consider on high side. Anyway i already switch to clinic already which the price is 50% or lesser than umsc.
Andre 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 I thought pap smear cost about RM100?? NO?? Anyway, still better than what Im being slaughtered for in DSH. Practically nothing except seeing a water sag, paid and go home just like that.

The cost of conventional PAP smear is RM8 (this is inclusive of the lab profit). So choose your clinic wisely.Reasonable market price for history taking, examination, ultrasound and PAP smear should be arounf RM130-RM150. Some places could be lower. :wacko3:

S2000 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2009 I did a pap smear test n vagina ultrasound(Feb 09) with Dr. Menon @ TMC cost about RM250 and i was shocked to see the price. I eventually as the nurse for discount and she walk in to the doc's room and come out with the bill of RM200. No doubt TMC is famous for their fertility treatment / women specialist. My personal opinion is that I think TMC charges is way higher than other specialist or hospital. Or their charges is ok/reasonable for fertility treatment i.e. blood test, HCG, sperm counts, IUI, IVF?
yvonne118 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2009 No doubt TMC charge higher than the rest. I went there last time because it was covered by my insurance, else i wouldn't go there.
