That stupid Sunway dr. gave me antibiotic injection. When I mentioned this to the other 2 gyane, they told me that particular injection is very very strong. It is for those terminally ill people who is going to die. Imagine I had that injection everyday for 8 days straight. Each injection cost RM150. Putting money aside, I wonder what side effect such strong antibiotic will have on my body
Hi Fluene,
How can I PM you? I'm thinking of having my checkup in Sunway too. Pls advise.

I would recommend Dr Susanna Huam (Damansara Specialist Hospital). She is very nice and friendly. She has got many patients under her as well. Anybody heard of Dr Huam before or under her care?
Hi eMiLy,
I used to have Dr Huam but I switched to Dr Tang (SJMC) in week 30, cos I cannot stand the non systematic way of that clinic. They do not do weight checks, urine test and never asked me if I need any detail scans, etc. I question the nurse why she didn't do it for me, instead, she asked me to do it myself for weighing, and very impatient on why I insisted on the urine test...

Thanks Amanda! Anyway, I dun feel like engaging him as my gynae cos my fren had a very terrible experience with him. Recently, I went to see Dr Wong Choon Meng at Yan's Women Specialist. He is very friendly and patient. I did pap smear & Vaginal scanning and it cost RM185.00.

Advice no 1- if the doctor/gynae is too popular, they will probably be too busy to give you the extra care you might need. A colleague of mine had such bad experience with a very popular gynae (no names will be given since the gynae aredi retired). Since the waiting room was always filled to the rim, he spent very little time with each patient. The last scan was done on the 7th mth and when my frd delivered the babe was so big (11lb), it was unexpected. She underwent emergency c-sec but due to the size of the babe, she suffered internal hemorrhaging during the op. She nearly died giving birth becos she thought the most popular doc is the best.
Advice no 2- if possible go for gynae who encourage you to go for natural delivery verses c-sec. Usually these gynae care for the mothers wellbeing bcos post delivery care for natural delivery is shorter and there are less complications for subsequent childbearing. Gynae who encourage you to go for c-sec usually do so for their own convenience. They will have an "easier" schedule becos they do not have to wake up at odd hours to deliver the babies. They can see more patients and deliver more babies when they have a schedule, just like an assembly line in a factory. They also earn more when performing c-sec. Good gynae only advice you to perform c-sec when it is necessary and not for cosmetic reasons.
Advice no 3- if during your first few consultation with yr gynae, you feel very uncomfortable or uneasy, then maybe you should change gynae. A good gynae will put you at ease and gives you the confidence that you can do it. Its just like a transfer of good vibes that passes on from him/her to you and this is especially crucial during the delivery room. You must have absolute confidence that both of you, mother and babe will make thru this wonderful journey with bittersweet memories, not nightmares.
Well hope what i share here will help the expecting mom in choosing the right gynae. I shared my own gynae experience in the posting "health section". Take a look there.

hi, where is UMSC ?
#87
Posted 03 February 2008 - 01:22 PM
Dr. Eugene serves both UM Medical Centre (UMMC) and UMSC. UMMC is much cheaper than UMSC but the drawback is that you have to make appointment/referral from other dr to go to UMMC. UMSC, you can just walk in. I have seen Dr Eugene in UMSC before. He is not a money minded dr. If you need to go for a surgery or anything that might cost you a lot, Dr. Eugene will transfer you to UMMC so that you don't have to pay that much. I think this is the way dr should be. Care more for their patients than their own pockets

Hi, I'm new to this forum. The info circulating round here is very informative. I'm also searching for a good gynae. My experience with the last two female ones weren't satisfactory. Between the ones recommended from TDMC, which would be recommended as a good listener? And not just someone who rushes through stuff
