So that means that it has no link for using 3d/4d scan to check the skeletal (structural) integrity of the baby? We were actually told to do the 3d scan, and 4d to check the bb for skeletal deformation....

Skeletal abnormality is best diagnosed by 2D scan. You can google or see any medical books on antenatal skeletal abnormality. Almost more than 95% of images are from 2D scans.3D diagnosis is a relatively new field. Not many doctors especially senior Malaysian doctors are trained in 3D, they generally trained in 2D scans. Those who are using 3D to diagnosed abnormality are usually subspecialist in fetomaternal medicine. The number of such specialists are very few. Most of them in private practice are general obstetrician. However do not get the idea that 3D/4D is better, 2D is actually the best of ultrasound for management of pregnancy currently practiced by majority of doctors.

There's one gynae in Sunway (not convenient to put the name here. Anyone interested can pm me). Went to see him for some problems I had last year. He charges very high and asked for many tests, etc. End up my problems not solved and more other problems surfacing. Then I went to see another 2 different gyanes. They were horrified when I told them what this Sunway dr. gave me. And they also queried why he asked for so many expensive and yet unnecessary tests. I feel like conned by this dr. Spent a few thousands ringgit and end up my health got worse instead of getting better.

Hi!... would you mind telling me who this doctor is that we should avoid?

QUOTE (Panda Lover @ Apr 5 2011, 08:20 PM)

Hi all, I'm having 5 weeks pregnancy now. It is my first pregnancy!!! laugh.gif

I would like to share my experience with Klinik Pakar Wanita Loh ( located at same row with King Crab, PJ). This is my first ever visit after GP confirmed my pregnancy yesterday.

I went to see Dr Loh Khee Feei today in the evening. He were out when hubby & I arrived there at 6.15pm. He returned from outside around 20 minutes later. There was 2 couples waiting after me.

Overall, he seems to be a bit impatient & wanted to finish the process fast. At the beginning, I told him I'm pregnant and at the same time I'm having CHICKEN POX ( Yes, it's chicken pox!!! ohmy.gif ). He asked a few question about food & medication allergy, then he did vagina scan as he said my baby is still very small. We were very excited to see the small little cute dots appears on the screen. (Life is so amazing isn't?! tongue.gif )

After that, doctor asked me don't have to worry much on the chicken pox matter because I'm on the early stage on pregnancy, it only will have 1-2% to affect the baby ( Congenital Varicella Syndrome). He advised to visit him 2 weeks later to check whether the baby is ok or not. He also mentioned every pregnancy will have it's own risk with or without chicken pox, it's all destiny. :) He asked us to pray everything is fine on the baby. Any problem will only can be diagnose after 20 weeks of pregnancy. I initiate to asked him what kind of food to avoid. ( He didn't advise what are the Do's & Don'ts ).

At last, we came out from doctor's room, the receptionist asked me to weight, then she recorded it. (Btw, she only understand simple English, better speak Malay with her, she is quite friendly). My bill was RM100 include consultation + vagina scan + Folic Acid + Vitamin B.

Anyone of you also visit the same clinic? Mind to share as well ?! Price of RM100 is it consider reasonable ?!

Hi,

I think RM100 is consider ok. I had my first visit in Columbia Asia Puchong with Dr Ng Soon Pheng, total bill is RM133 (Vaginal scan -rm70 + consultation rm 60 +admin fee rm3). But no doubt, he is a very good doc-patient (will answer all your questions with smiling face and even ask me got anymore question), caring, gentle and professional. 2 thumbs up!

Hi, I just want to share my opinion here, hope its useful for you. The price RM 100 is a reasonable price for private klinik. I had my check up in Chia and Loo Klinik Puchong, doctor overall ok but less explaination and soemtime impatient due to many waiting customers, the nurse not so polite. Becos i edy 6 months pregnant, I need to decide where to deliver my babe, so i may change to Dr Loh which is located in kelana jaya, next week I will visit him. According to my friends, who visit Dr. Loh b4, they feedback to me, Dr. Loh very friendly, patient, care about patient. I heard from my friends, the delivery fees is slightly cheaper than others.

I am visiting Dr Ang Chin Guan now for my first pregnancy, erm, personally I think he is ok even he doesn't talk much during consultation but only if you ask question. By the way, he can be quite humorous sometime :)

I chosen him cos he has consultation slot at Sime Darby Tmn Megah which near by my work place. There are many people visiting him as well but it wouldn't take long for the wait cos his consultation time is always very quick like 5 mins per patient. ( My husband and I always keep track on our consultation time, each time it break the shorter time, today visit is only 3 mins, wahaha.).

May be for some people think that it doesn't worth for the price (the consultation fee is not so expensive, it range from RM 50 - RM 60 - don't know why it fluctuate for every visit, the medicine is expensive though, so may be you can buy outside.) As for consultation time, I think is very personal, I saw some patient went in for quite long like 10mins may be they have complicated case. As for me, standard routine - scanning and DONE..also because I don't have much question to ask.

One thing I like about him is that he is not really money minded cos he already quite experience and some more he is a Dato. I went to him for the first time and do the down syndrome test, after he did the ultrasound scan he said it is not necessary to go for the blood test since it is so expensive. (but we still insist to go for the test after all)

Unlike the previous doctor I visited who keep "scaring" me must do the test which cost me around RM 600 ( if you do it at Sime Darby Megah is about RM 410, where SJMC is around RM 390). He also don't simply issue any vitamin only by request, cos I think he will let you buy outside instead.

Overall, I like him cos he won't make you feel so worries during your pregnancy, he is always positive which make me feel very comfortable during my pregnancy. But, as my friend said, if you have a complicated pregnancy may be you should go for female doctor who are more patience to chat with the patient.

Hie Mummies! This is my first pregnancy as well and I am 32 weeks in(ohh... getting closer to delivery date  ). Just want to recommend my gynae, Dr Delilah from SDMC. She is really good, thorough, and humourous. I find that she is very patient as well and will take her time to explain and her ultrasound scanning is pretty detailed as well. Most importantly, she is pasionate about what she's doing and genuinely care for the baby and the mother.

No doubt she is expensive, my consultation is usually RM140 excluding supplements. If budget is not an issue, I highly recommend her. She has an evening clinic in SS19 which makes it convenient for us working mothers to do our check-up.

Dear mummies to be...

Would u think that each consultation fees u pay are way too expensive? Well, think again...the Dr that u pay for might save u and your baby's life. Here is my stories...

When I was planning to get pregnant, a dentist recommended me to Dr. Wong Choon Meng. He did my pap smear and check up almost everthing that costs us about 300. That was my 1st visit. A month later, I went for another check ups n found out I was 6 weeks pregnant. Dr. Wong was serious with me as I was quite heavy. I wasn't slim though. He told me that he can't see the fetus because my tummy is covered with fats! Lolx... Dunno to love or hate him for saying that.from that day onwards, he has been monitoring my weight, advices us that having sex during pregnancy is harmful to the baby, exercise is good, lotsa fiber intake and etc... Not only that, I told him my mum is diabetic when pregnant with me and he became more serious each time my consultation. On the 5th months, he took my before n after sugar drink blood for test, and results came out I was indeed diabetic. Normal pregnant mummy's glucose level was below 6.8 and I was 11.4. See how high is my glucose level? He introduced me to diabetic doctor in Sunway Medical Center. And from that day onwards, my days wasn't been easy.

Can u imagine I have to prick my fingers 4 times a day, inject insulin to my arms, thighs n tummy each meal, always end up hungry cuz I only can have 2 scoops of rice a day, no sugars, chocolates, ice creams, starchy foods,etc... From 21 weeks to 37 weeks, my routine.Dr wong was there to help me dry my tears.

On 1/2/12 nite, I felt sudden urge to pass urine. I tink my water bag broke... I was stubborn n told my hubby that it's just a leak... On 2/2/12,my hubby forced me to Dr Wong's clinic and I was to admitted immediately which I refused... Still in cny mood... N waiting for dragon baby too. Dr wong scolded me that I should not consider anything else but the safety of my baby. I gave in at last.

My baby boy was borned on 3/2/12 00:57am. 3 hours after delivery, pediatric doctor came n told me that my baby can't be fed at the moment. Because he can't past motion. He's diagnosed with Hirchsprung's diesease.

To me, Dr Wong Choon Meng is my baby's guardian angel. He saved my baby's life. Although his consultation fees a bit costly, but he saved our lives.because of his professional attitude I maybe will regret for what I have done to my baby.

I would like to highly recommend Dr Loo Suat Chin at Columbia Asia Bukit Rimau. She is friendly, detailed, patient, dedicated, supportive and professional. Thank god I have her for my both pregnancy. I have just gave birth to my second son. :)

I admitted to hospital midnight as I need to induce (she advised me to admit midnight to save 1 night stay of the ward charges) She called every now and then to ask about my condition. I still remember she came to hospital at 4am during my first labour although I only dilate 2-3cm. For my second labour, I almost give up for normal delivery due to the unbearable pain. I cried and requested for c-section when I have dilate about 5cm. She kept telling me I can make it and said she is there to help me. When I dilate about 7cm, I almost collapsed when the nurses told me I still have to wait as bb head is high. Dr Loo came and put her hand into my vagina and said she will help me to adjust bb head. She is very supportive and keep telling me I can do it. Finally, I had gave birth to my baby safely. And yes, she advise us not to take epidural as well.

Me and my husband are really grateful and thankful to have her throughout my both pregnancy. She is such a wonderful doctor. Not going to see her again until my next pregnancy :p And I know I will miss her sweet smile :)

I am 12 weeks now and with Dr. Tang from SDMC. Last Tuesday was my 2nd visit with her. The bill on that day was Imaging (RM60), Laboratory (RM448), Pharmacy (RM62.80) and Consultation (RM72), total was RM648.60.

It’s the 12 weeks and Dr. Tang asked us if we would like to do the ‘special blood test’. I believed the blood test measures:

hCG (human chorionic gonadotrophin); and PAPP-A (pregnancy associated plasma protein)

Yea!! I did a lot of study and searching of screening and information since I’ve pregnant! Hahaha

Dr. Tang also measured the fluid under the skin at the back of bb’s neck, We assumed that also to determine the risk of having baby with Down’s syndrome. But the thing is, Dr never assured us anything but she asked if we have decided to do the ‘special blood test’ and it’s optional.

Hubby suggested to just do it... so I’ve just did. So I guess the blood test/urine cost us RM448. Dr. also gave me multivitamin and calcium (RM62.80).

Overall, we are satisfied with Dr. Tang. She is patient, friendly....

my gynae was Dr Menon from Assunta.

He is an experienced gynae and i guess he is around 60 something...

He is good and very patient, friendly...and i believe older generation would encourage natural birth ...(not to say all)

Choosing a good doctor is really a hard work.

I stayed there 3D2N and baby was there 4D3N due to minor yellow skin.

I thought the fee would cost us a bomb but surprisingly not. ( at least not more than our estimation) rm3400+

Im thru natural birth , no vacuum no epidural...2 jabs pain relief (minor)

isit cheap or expensive?

For me is affordable..

i hv seen Dr Nooraini Kassim Ali, Dr Wong Chin Yuan in Sunway Medical Centre and also Dr Soh in Klang. In my opinion, most times it's the male drs who will b more patient with us. The female drs r usually less consoling or less likely to 'layan' us... Dr Noraini is an experienced dr but she is really rather moody la... my opinion only la.. anyhow she has left sunway dy... Dr Wong Chin Yuan delivered my girl.. though he is not a 'talker', he was really patient in answering my questions... as for Dr. Soh, he seems nice n professional too
