Any advice from other SAHM?Manual Pumps1) Medela Harmony (RM269)2) Avent ISIS (RM219)Electric Pumps (Single)3) Medela Mini-E (RM469)- I read Medela pumps are noisy like lawn mower? 4) Medela Swing (RM799)5) Avent ISIS IQ UNO (RM695)Electric Pumps (Dual)6) Medela Mini-E Plus (RM729)7) Ameda Lactaline Personal (RM788)- I read that it can increase EBM? Beanz 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2011 Dear All,Wanna ask if there's anyone out there using Ameda Lactaline Dual Breastpump? IS it ok? I heard from my sis's friend that its quiet and good. BUt what is the diff. between Ameda Lactaline and Ameda Purely Yours? ANd what is the price now? I saw an online website selling RM 850.00, that comes with 1. Ameda Lactaline Dual Breastpump(BPA Free)2. Autumnz Cooler Bag3. Autumnz Reusable Ice Pack - 3pcs4.Bumblebee 8 pcs Breastmilk Storage Bottles(BPA Free) - included 8 screw rings and 8 sealing discsDo you all think it is worth to buy? Or should I just get the pump itself from any store? I also saw that some website selling only the pump for RM 790.00 and comes with 8 bumblee bee bottles.. But I've no idea how much is the pump itself. And I can't even check on any stores as I'm currently residing in a very small town in Sabah. No mother store, no shopping mall, no hyper market, not even a gynae >.< So I need more infomation on breast pump...hopefully all mummies here can help...thanks

princess_m 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2012 Hi, i breast feed my son more than 6 months already. So far i tried the pump from Avent, Medela and Ameda. Personally i don't like avent, which i get it from my sil. This is a manual pump, very tiring for my hand and take longer time for me to pump. Each time i spend 20 mins for 1 side. For a working mother i recommend u get dual pump. Because can save your time. If you plan to breast feed for long time, get a good pump is better. A good pump can help u generate more milk and save time. Ameda pump, is the dual pump, so i pumped 20 t0 30 mins. But now i need to get more time (40 mins to 1 hr ) since the milk increasing. This pump i love it a lot, u can adjust the cycle and power. For me it is gentle. Just i cannot move around and do anything while generating the milk. Medela, i am using the freestyle. This pump help me to generate 9 oz milk in 30 mins. It is dual pump and has memory saved. The Moreoever i can move around or do something. Very light. One thing is too pricy and a bit troblesome whenever need to put on the pump.

Yes, my 1st pump is ameda, i really like it. My hb got me the medela freestyle and he asked me to sell off my ameda. But i think this pump really good, so i still keep the pump. If your milk flow is stable and established, then only you start consider more expensive pump. I just stored over 170 bottles ( 4oz / bottle ) in my fridge. Max i can get 16 oz per session. Min i get 8-9oz. After the delivery, the beginning 3days, you may not have milk. Maybe few drops to 2-3 oz. Some even wait till a week only will have the milk. So don't get depress. Then slowly the milk flow get better. Always let your baby latch on and pump will help your milk flow get stable.

Always let your baby latch on and pump will help your milk flow get stable. i have an avent manual pump but i find it very painful. so currently im using hand to express the milk fr the breasts. im quite comfy with this traditional way but the only thing is it is not fast enuf to express most of the milk out. i need 15 mins to express 3 oz of milk. tats the reason y im looking for a pump. the 1st few days after the delivery was the hardest moment. my baby din latch on properly but he wanted to suck. he kept on crying for milk. i was so helpless. i buzzed the nurse for help. u know wat? the nurse came with sleepy face and told me baby wanted to sleep instead. hey cmon!i buzz u for help but u are telling me this? due to jaundice, my baby has to stay in the nursery for treatment. and the nurses there 'encouraged' me to give formula to baby as i was alr discharged home. i insisted of giving him the colostrum/milk. i rushed back to the hospital every 4 hrs to give him the supply. i was trying to squeeze out some colostrum/milk while i was at home. pumping a dry breasts was too painful for me so i decided to use hand express. from there i learned the skill of doing it. but i could only have half ounce of colostrum after nearly an hr squeezing. the nurse kept telling me the colostrum given was not enuf for the baby and again 'encouraged' me to give formula. i have to activate the milk gland by squeezing the breast every hr. tat was very difficult for a first time mother. luckily baby learned to latch on when he was discharged. i let him suck every hr to stimulate the glands. a wk later i got the milk finally! the first wk of breastfeeding is a very tough process. we have to be very patient and of course we wouldnt have rest at all. the wound was still hurting and you need to fulfill baby's need. not many shops provide testing on the pump. this wkn im going to test ameda and freestyle. most probly i will get ameda double. now i need to go thur another stage of challenge. tat is getting used to the pump. all my frens told me pumping is painful in the beginning. i hope i can cope well with it. princess_m 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2012 prettyhoney, My confinement lady also encouraged me to give formula milk to my baby. If i didn't stand still, i believe my baby won't have the breast milk today. I recommend u to get the ameda, bcoz more gentle compare to the avent. Moreover, the price is reasonable for a dual pump. It is more quiet than the freestyle. Whatever spare part u need like medela, Ameda also got sell , eg bigger flang. If your nipples are dry, apply the nipple cream. It will help the cracked and dry nipple. The avent manual pump caused my nipples painful and even dry also. I think i m little lucky since i got a good lactation consultant. She encourage me and give me very good advice. While everyone not supporting, but she always there to tell me don't listen to others, do what u think is the best for your baby. My hospital encourage me to breastfeed my son. Every 3 hrs they will bring bb to me and ask me let him suck.

purple lotus 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2012 I'm letting go of my Ameda Lactaline dual electric pump for RM370. I bought it in April2010 for use with my first baby. Still in good condition and in original box. I'm now using Medela Freestyle for my second baby. My Ameda pump serves as a backup unit in case my Freestyle broke down. Personally I love both pumps. Both have its pros and cons. Ameda suction is stronger but Medela gives me mobility. I will let go of my Freestyle by end of this year also cos I plan to stop breastfeed when my baby turns one year old. Pls email me at christine_kon@yahoo.com for more info and pic.
