Ginny, after doin much research, share with you a few points to note. Make sure that they are using only SIRIM approved wire. Also, make sure that the switch, DB box, etc are of a good brand, not some plastic box made in China. Also, make sure that for oven, heater, air cond a 2.5mm wire is used, as opposed to a 1.5mm for normal electrical utensils.

also, there is definately room for bargain. nego with ur contractor! :)

since u mentioned plaster ceiling (side-track topic) - how much are they quoting you? im also doin plaster ceiling and all, so i wanna make sure i dun get duplicated charges (coz I notice that my cont had alot of duplicated charges here and there).

Kathlynn,

Thank you for your reminder... I will take note on it.... So far, there are no further bargain, but, will ask for lump sum discount once we get the final total... As my dad is also an electrician, but, at hometown, don;t wan to cumbersome him to come all over to kl to do the electric work for us... But, did ask for his advice as well... So, as long as the electrician no 偷工减料,the price shd be reasonable at KL... just some is a bit expensive, so, we have to accept it as electrician is actually making the certain profit, if we negotiate through itemised things, for sure, he will add in the discounted amount at the other part, so, better ask for lump sum discount after that.... Sometime need to pay extra to get better quality n reliable job...

Regarding the plaster ceiling, we've yet to get the quotation, but, we roughly know is RM2.50 per sqf without after sales service. Another 1 is RM2.70 per sqf with after sales service (every yr come to ur house n check the condition of plaster ceiling, if need to repair, will repair for u without charges)...the price only for normal flat 1, L box or others will be more expensive... actually, we still havent confirm/ research for plaster ceiling info, but, just get price from the friend/ relatives that doing house reno...

My house reno just started mid of May, now still doing wet work, expect will finish the wet work on 3-4 mths times.. we let the contractor slowly slowly do... now, we din even look for tiles yet... very bz.... somemore we've to prepare for our wedding....

yes, i got a few main contractor to quote me for everything - plumbing, wiring, plaster, tiling, reno works, etc. i know if i go seek for individual quote from individual specialist it will be cheaper, but i dont have the time to co-ordinate these ppl (as im workin) so i rather pay 'extra' for the hassle-free part. but not too much 'extra' la, hence doin some research on individual quote ;)

would appreciate ur help! :)

Recently recieved 2 quotations with big price difference. One contractor quote a 13 amp plug point RM105 while the other only RM80. Checking the contractor with more expensive quotation on the reason and he mentioned his price inclusive of wall plastering with net and UPVC pipe to conceal the wire.

Saw a few quotations from this forum with price matching my second contractor and wandering are the price inclusive of wall plastering or not. Want to ascertain the first contractor does not over-charge

first contractor really overcharge. mine is conduit wiring (pipe) & its wall plastering and all for RM75 (not cheap also, but okla). I think the price that is reasonable is RM80 and below.

Hi, this is for the benefit of other viewers...

My wireman was very informative (din mind sharing - gave me lots insights and idea for my condo) and he charged reasonably. Since i want to do the renovation and all for my wedding and di not have much time, he also recommended the plaster ceiling guy and air-cond guy. All was well cos my hubby quite fussy and price prudent.

I have been staying in my condo for more than a year, eventho it's too soon to tell but so far no problem at all with the wire and everything in my condo ;-)

Anyway, his no. is 0166170966.
