Yoyo,

I've been stayed for tis three hotel and resort as well. I personnaly love the Damai Laut a lot. The view there is very nice. I alway love to join their Haneymoon Package. The room for Honeymoon Package is very very romantic wor...

Its depend to wha u like also... The Kuantan one is very easy to reach the town. But for the Damai Laut one is quite 'ulu'. Those who stay at Damai Laut normally will only utilise the facility provided by the resort and very seldom to go out from that place. The environment for the restaurant which is having BBQ seafood buffet if quite nice also. Its at the seaside. To me, its quite romantic as well.

Can only comment on the Damai Laut. Nice but quite ulu. so if you just wanna enjoy some peace and quiet only, and maybe play some golf, then this is the place for you. Food is on the expensive side, but like what christy said, the BBQ seafood restaurant is built on the sea if i'm not wrong, so the setting is beautiful. Heard from my friends the Noodle House also not too bad. There's a live band playing at the lounge too.

If u enjoy fishing, there are a few areas nearby that are favourite spots for fishing saltwater fish.

The place is around 20 minutes away from Pantai Remis, a fishing village. You can find pretty good seafood there. Yum!

By the way, Damai Laut is not Pangkor. It's on the mainland. By sea, it's close to Pangkor Island, but if you wanna go to Pangkor, it'll take u at least 30 minutes drive from the resort to reach the jetty in Lumut, and another 40 minutes ferry ride to the island.

Stayed in Damai Laut before. It is kinda far from town so it will be perfect if you are going to dine in and stay in the resort all the time. Other than that, it was nice

There's really nothing much in Panglor actually. Just an ordinary island. Better to just stay in the resort than drivinf around to the jetty and backa again. Anyway, if you insist on going to Pangkor, one day is more than enough

Langkawi is way more commercialize and happening compared to Pangkor... Pangkor is more of a fishing village...

mhyap is right in the sense that Pangkor is less commercialised in comparison, but well, the fishing village is just part of the island. the island caters more for resorts with private beaches, though not many. for day trips, i would recommend to go about by motorcycle (if u have the license), otherwise u could get caught, which is highly probably.

It's quite a quiet and peaceful island. at the pasir bogak beach, u can see Pangkor Laut. At Coral Beach/teluk nipah, they have activities like kayakking to a nearby small island called Giam Island (i think), or get a speedboat out to the sea to view and feed fishes and corals. If u're interested, there are a few interesting temples to visit, one at Coral Beach perched on the rocks by the sea, another 2 (hindu and taoist) close to town at one of the fishing villages. There are also some Dutch remains and batu bersurat if u're into history. As for the towns, nothing much to see, except for buying dried seafood, which u can also buy at Lumut.

haha, felt like it's my obligation to write something since it's so close to my hometown.

By the way, pretty fresh seafood here too around the area. if u're really coming, i can PM u directions to which restaurant and where.

also, u can drive down for half a day to Ipoh. it's less than 1.5 hours drive away.

mhyap,

Might as well i drop a note here rather than PM la :)

the one that i like in Pantai Remis is right behind Maybank. it's a corner house (i think) converted into a double storey restaurant. it's on the left side of the road if u're coming from Damai Laut.

the one in S'wan, where do your relatives usually bring u to? my family loves this place in Kg Cina. It's called Village/Villa. If u're coming from ACS in Kg Koh, turn right at the first traffic light, and head all the way towards Kg Cina. You'll reach another traffic light. Go straight. It's the first restaurant on your right. Just beware there are lots of restaurants around this area it's pretty confusing.

i'm presuming you know those landmarks. hope my directions are clear enough :P

Hi sorry yoyo

where are you coming from? i presume from KL?

most commonly used route from KL is through the NSE, exit Bidor. First, continue your journey following road signs to Teluk Intan. Soon you'll spot road signs to Lumut/Sitiawan(blue sign boards) and also Swiss Garden Resort Damai Laut (white signboards with green writing). Just head in their direction.

The confusing part is towards the end, close to your destination. You have to watch out for a left turn after you turn into Damar Laut. If you go straight instead and follow the Damar Laut roadsign, u'll reach a dead end.

The resort's website also has a very detailed direction guide http://www.damailaut.com/driving01.html

By the way, at Bidor, you can stop by the Pun Chun coffee shop (coming from highway, it'll be on your right. corner shop. it's very famous for the 'little' chicken biscuits, sak ker mah, wan ton mee and duck thigh noodle).

What else to recommend ah.... well... the places to visit are not exactly nearby, closest is Pangkor, but some ppl may find it boring. I kinda like peace and quiet, so it's ok for me.

S'wan/Lumut (15-20 minutes) - small place. not alot of places to visit here as YET. Outdoor activities would include hiking, picnic by the beach, visiting the mangrove forest, diving. lots of places to buy those dried seafood stuff to bring back.

Ipoh (1+ hour) - great makan place. Many lime stone caves. Most famous one is gua tempurung. haven't been there but it's highly recommended.

taiping (1+ hour) - zoo, lake gardens, tulip farm (not sure if they have seasons).

But just one word of advice, the road leading to the resort is a bit winding and narrow (off the main road), so a bit hazardous to drive too late at night. be sure to get back to the resort before night.

The Swiss Garden Golf Resort and Spa is a beautiful and luxury resort with magnificent and spectular architecture and all modern amenities for customers.I have stayed there for once last year and found the standard and service so well.It has 300 spacious and clean guest rooms with balcony to view the beauty of the island. The amenities and food quality is also great and appreciable.
