They encourage breast feeding, and they will be nurses teach the correct way for breast feeding. IF not enough supply they will ask u wether you wana substitute wit FM. IF u agree they will proceed and if not they wil bring the bb to the mother for breast feeding.

hi everyone, i got some question, hope you all can help me out here.

recently my wife get pregnant, and we went to tmc for 1st and 2nd checkup ady, but my wife is concern about the price of deliver.

cause last week, we went to 2nd checkup and we ask the nurse there about the fees of deliver, according to the nurse, normal deliver like below 5k, but not mention how much, and for the c-section is around 7-8k, so my wife getting worries.

and i understand her concern, but I thnk we should stay with the current doctor and hospital, since it is the nearest to our house. and this is our 1st child, i hope everything will be fine when at the time of deliver.

but my wife have 2nd though, and she thinking on changing the doctor and place of deliver, so i now kinda headache, she give me a name of the hospital "sentosa hospital @ jln ipoh", i search this hospita over the net but unable to find any comment of it.

now the problem come, should i insist to stay at current doctor and hospital or i should listen to her?

i know she is suffering on pregnancy and i would like to listen to her on everything she happy but for this case, i cant.

i know we are not rich but i think she deserved a good service on this. so i insist to stay with the current doc and hospital.

can you all give me some suggestion? i'm so headache now and dont know what is the next step to take ady.

Jimmy,

Firstly, Bravo to you for being a proactive dad-to-be and husband.

I will be delivering in TMC under Dr.Menon (who's your wife's gynae?). To me, TMC is sorta like a "premium" hospital. I chose it because it is closest to my house, and fortunately for me, my husband's company will pay for all my medical/delivery expenses so cost is not an issue for us.

However, frankly speaking, if my husband's company does not pay for the cost, I think I will not choose TMC, simply because it is expensive. I know that costs can go up to 12k in complicated cases (better to prepare more $ just in case).

To me, what is important is not just the cost, but the relationship your wife has with the gynae. I have been to a few gynaes that do not make me feel comfortable, don't really explain things etc, so even though their services are cheaper, I will not choose them. Your wife MUST feel happy and comfortable with her gynae. Check to see if your gynae at TMC also practices in a different (perhaps cheaper) hospital. Maybe that can be a cheaper option for you.

Besides that, since you live around Damansara area, I am curious as to why your wife suddenly chose a hospital in Jalan Ipoh. That's like the other side of town. I personally feel that it's better to choose a hospital that's not too far away from your house, or worse case scenario, farther BUT can use highway to quickly reach (without jam etc).

I have not heard of this hospital at Jalan Ipoh, but it is widely recommended to avoid shoplot clinics/hospitals. (those hospitals that are in shoplots, and not really 100% hospital type).

Have you checked out other alternative hospitals? Damansara Specialist? (not cheap oso, but perhaps slightly cheaper than TMC). I've been there once, and service wasnt as good as TMC. Sime Darby Medical Center?

Sentosa Hospital has been around for years and its a cheaper alternative to private hospital. Rest assured its not a "shoplot" hospital. Its a building on its own. Not very breastfeeding friendly though. Services there are just all right but be prepared for an older than u facilities.

And i don't really thinks TMC is cheaper than Damansara Specialist Hospital (DSC). Most of the hospitals cannot give u and exact amount because emergencies can occur.

DSC have a really good gynae by the name of Dr Guna. Waiting period for check ups can be a pain though...

thx tash and yivoon for the reply and advise,

I actually living in sungai buloh, so i out of option beside TMC and a goverment hospital,

if i choose not to go kepong/selayang/subang/pj area.

Sentosa Hospital is recomem by my wife relative where they live nearby the location.

I know the cost will go sky high if the situation complicated but i still prefer a safer and trustable hospital to give birth.

so what to do? have to work hard, earn more $$ lo, unless i choose switch to sungai buloh hospital (goverment hospital),

or sister and brother here recomem me another private hospital which is more money saving

Don't think there's cheap private hospital around the klang valley.

As for government hospital, I heard Sungai Buloh hospital is quite good. Full facilities there and the facilities is quite new too... and most important is it's cheap!!! i heard less than rm 100.

Anyone delivered in TMC recently ? What is the price ?

I have my pre-natal check up in TMC for the past few months ...n when I compare the price with my frens from another hospital .. sound slightly expensive ( not too much) but I prefer to go here coz their clinic is available at my place where I stay ( Kepong)

Going to deliver there soon .. just curious what is the total price for delivery there ? and what about their nurse , room , services etc ?

Hi Sein,

I delivered my baby at TMC in year 2010, c-sec under doctor Hariss Hamzah. 4 Days 3 nights Single Suits Room cost RM8k. The nurses are very friendly and helpful, most importantly, the hospital encourage breastfeeding n the midwife is doing a good job to teach me how to breastfeed my baby. I choose TMC due to 2 reasons:- (1) Trust n comfortable with the gynae (2) Near to my house. And I told myself that I will go back for my next delivery :)

I just had miscarriage at TMC, with doctor dev menon. This is the 3rd time. the first 2 at Sunway and Columbia. Both dunno the reason. My friend recommend me to see doctor dev. So i see him before i got pregnant. But he said he cannot find anything, but ask me to go quickly meet him one i get pregnant. After tested positive, I went to see him, and straightaway he can see that actually i got fibroid, he said, this could be the reason i always miscarriange. He can't remove it since i already pregnant. But unlucky for me, the fibroid 'eat' the baby.. but thank god, now i know the root cause. He did the laser treatment to remove the fibroid and now, i'm free from any problem.

Suprisingly, the other 2 specialist cant see what doctor dev can see. I thank him a lot.. I will keep trying again :D

latest fee for tmc is much higher now due to the change of management, tmc is now under vincent tan from berjaya!!! i deliver my 2nd baby girl there 9/11/2011 (35weeks) for me is 9k c-sec (regretted the decision) n my baby was in nicu for 6days rm24k, strongly advise another hospital for delivery if u wan to save more money, dr menon is a great doctor but the hospital charges is ridiculous n before i check out i heard another couple saying their bill is 5k for normal birth, dr menon can go gov hospital to deliver for u if not mistaken, anyway my sister is pregnant now n she see doctor menon at assunta for check up
