I went to Macau in Feb 2007. Hubby and I booked the AirAsia Go Holidays promotion. About RM1600++ for 2 ppl, inclusive of accommodation, airport tranfers and half-day tour. We stayed at Grandview Hotel in Taipa.

There's really nothing much to see in Macau, it's just a small island. Macau is famous for its almond and peanut cookies. You can buy these from Koi Kee Confectioneries. Theirs are the best. Shopping is near The Ruins of St. Paul, at the Senado Square (just tell the bus driver or taxi driver you want to go to the fountain 'phan sui jhi'). Transportation is very easy in Macau, buses are very frequent and charges a flat rate of 2.50 pataca. Oh..also you can only change to Macau's currency - pataca in Macau and no where else. You can change some Sin $ and change it to pataca when you arrive at the Macau airport. It's about RM4.60 to 10 pataca. And if you wanna gamble, the casinos there only take HK$ and RMB, not pataca.

If you're planning to go Zhuhai, you must prepare your visa here to save time. Please enquire from your travel agent.

Hubby & I went to Macau/HK in April 2007.. we booked the go holiday package from AirAsia.. very good deal.. both only paid RM3800 for 10D9N (Before you say it's expensive, just take note tht it's 10D9N, if you go for 4D3N of course so much cheaper lar ok!!).. inclusive of 9N accommodation in 5 star resort in Taipa called Grand Waldo Resort, daily breakfast & air tix. Dun have to worry about airport transfer coz this hotel is only about 5 mins (if no jam) away from the airport and taxis are rampant, no need wait so long.. only MOP (Pataca) 40 per taxi. I would strongly recommend this hotel coz it is very famous and really high class and all.. it has the BEST spa too.. at 1st i dun believe also when i saw in their website coz everyone will surely praise their own stuff right.. but when i went to my supplier's place in HK, they asked where we stay and the moment we mentioned this hotel, they say.. oh, thts very good.. you should try the spa, it is the best spa in whole macau!!! Although it's in Taipa, dun worry about getting around in Macau.. coz this hotel provides FOC shuttle bus every 10 or 15 mins to the ferry terminal (town area of macau) and also coachane.. oppss. i forgot the spelling.. hehehehe..

And yes, you dun see pataca in any of our foreign exchange service here in malaysia.. but u can change $ in the airport, no prob about tht.. actually in Macau, they accept HKD and RMB too everywhere.

And dun be fooled by this supposedly 4 star or 5 star Mandarin Hotel in Macau.. In Msia, this is considered as "good hotel" but I passed by the Macau one, very very very ordinary and pales in comparison.. coz Macau is an entertainment city, 80% of their revenue comes from casino, thts why all hotels sure got casinos and in Macau, you'll see that almost all hotels are very colourful and nice to attract more ppl to it.. but this mandarin hotel is like a white building, no lightings, no colourful stuffs.. very boring!! Hahahaha.. oh yes, when I was there, I saw another hotel under construction.. it should be very good too, if i m not mistaken owned by the rich las vegas' casino boss.. it's called The Venetian.. should be ready by end of 2007 or early 2008. And very near to Grand Waldo Hotel.. oh yes, there's also another Grand Waldo Hotel in Macau town.. the one i went is in Taipa, very new, only about 1 yr old.. i think it's under the same management/boss.. in chinese, the one i went to is called "jin du" (go for this okie).. the one in town is called "hwa du" hehehehe.. be sure not to board the wrong shuttle bus! Coz hubby and I spotted this shuttle bus and hop onto it when we saw the same LOGO.. mana tau, it's Hwa Du and not Jin Du!!! Thank goodness we realised this before the bus took off!
