Hi, hi. Just dropping a few lines of intro.
Congratulations to everyone!

Wedding date : 24 Nov 2012 (KL)
Only booked for photography...outdoor and indoor which included gown rental.

No venues yet...hoping to find a deal at the fair in MV this weekend.
Looking at probably less than 10 tables.

Hi all,

I am new to this forum and I am also BTB 2012.

My partner and I just got our reception date, 29th September 2012 (Sat), and we are excited to start planning the wedding. We had decided to go for 10-15tables sit-down, chinese wedding menu hopefully somewhere nearby Sunway or anywhere in PJ/KL. We are hoping to get a venue soon. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated! I would love to have a outdoor civil wedding ceremony / ROM inviting a celebrant in the afternoon followed by outdoor (eg.private garden) small yet elegant, romantic wedding dinner with emcee and live bands. Anyway, that's the plan for now. Need to start finding!

Hope to hear more about your experience, preparation, budget, venue, where you got your dress, whether you engage in a planner, where you had your pre-wedding photo, tips, everything!! style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif

wow u got 29 Sept 2012! its suppose to be the BEST day of 2012 ! congrats dear ! :)

29/9 really the best day of 2012? haha how to define best or no best?
you made me so happy cos mine's also on this date :D :D :D
my mom gave me 3 dates to choose from - 16/9, 29/9 and 14/10.
16/9 is malaysia day, duwan la. 14/10 macam "sat sei" only... sei sei sieng like that. so 29/9 la "chiong chiong gau gau" ma sound nicer lolz. just my personal opinion ya. pls don't be offended if any of your big day is on these dates. no pun intended!!!

congrats to all fellow BTB's!!!

This is no more the 1960's lo. This is 2012....and superstitions are fast losing its grip on people especially those who are in their 20's now. People are now more radical about the 'good' or 'bad' dates.

I personally know 3 couples (Christians) who got married during hungry Ghost festival. Many people said their marriage will sure fail cos they got married on a 'bad' date. Christians in general do not believe in 'good' or 'bad' dates cos to them...God is above all superstitions.

2 other Couples ( Taoists and Buddhists) got married on a 'good' date....and many people said their marriages will sure be good cos 'good' date wo.

3 years later....the 2 Taoist and Buddhist couples were divorced....while the 3 Christian couples are still happily married til today.

Getting married on 'good' date doesn't mean anything much anymore nowadays. Let's bury all these old fashioned thinking about superstitious 'good 'dates. they are no longer practical in today's world.

i totally agree with you, Amanda. it's just that it's hard not to be "shaken" and influenced when you're raised in a typical chinese family, especially when the grandparents are still around. they will nag and nag and nag when you don't follow this and that tradition/custom. i personally don't mind having my wedding in the month of August. after all, it's 8 what! what's not good abt the number 8 now? plus there's plenty of options for you to choose from since majority of (Chinese) people will not hold weddings during this time. you don't have to search high and low and worry that the venue, MUA, live band etc being fully booked or whatever. and all the more perks you could demand from the vendors since they also want business during low seasons, right? that's how we make the best out of our hard earned money for the once in a lifetime occasion imo.

marriage is abt 2 people working at their relationship and life together, not superstitions and good dates or bad dates, or what you did or didnt do during the wedding etc. =)
