First of all, i myself didn't hire Videographer in my AD due to allocation big portion of budget on Photography. I am a person with personal preference on photos. I really think photos can tell story. My photographer made my AD slideshow. I watched it for more than 10 times with a lot of emotions.

I had experience watching video with amateurs one with not good editting skill....really funny emotions when i watched it like wasting time to watch it for me...i just forwarded it very fast .....felt bad if the couple knew i did that.

If my wedding budget allows, i would like to have wedding video like these:

just share my 2 cents.

The final producted video, (the storyboard ) also depent on [your] wedding program !! [reader], is that truth ?

If your wedding program is simple, then the VG have nothing speial to be recoarded ! so the output is just normal !

any comment on this ?

or many you all may said " Who have limited budjet RM600-RM1500 for VG+PG" only can find AHHING" ? hahaha ...

wedding program is simple and thats why nothing special to record? that is so nonsense! a pro would have make a simple thing becos a beautiful, meaningful thing... no such thing as simple therefore output normal and not special!!! gosh...

i remember my PG told me, no need to specially decorate ur wedding hall for me to snap ur photos! thats how a pro talks!

Hi yesido,

i really thought yesido is aka ah hing. haha..just feel like....coz u r really into him. I knew ah hing has good price but every bride has her choice to choose ...you no need to post every topic and sell ah hing 's work. I love my ad photos. Should i goto every wedding photography post to sell my pg? I think ah hing should do the video for u for free since you hard sell ah hing with so much efforts.

In this topic, i hope everybody is doing review, but not chatting on other issue, this may make the thread hard to read.

If the admin can rearrange this thread, please only remain the VG review.! ( can delete this post or removed to other suistable topic)

i would agree with other members here. after viewing a few links posted here, and compared to ah hing, his skills is still way below par. and that's why he's charging at 600 and others are charging at thousands. What you pay is what you get. In this world now, there's no such thing as 'kap na' already. You pay peanuts, you get peanuts.

Yes, babysiew, it's the quality that counts. But i'm sure every bride here has their own set of budget and what's their allocation like. So, in the end of the day, it depends on whether you think what you are paying is worth the quality you are getting. For ah hing's case, like i've said 'yat jam chin, yat jam fo' lor...

Hi

so far, i've had frens in SG who engaged Jan Ray as well as Fabian Lim. And i've seen their MTVs played during the dinner receptions, and all i can say is that i was impressed, especially with Fabian Lim. Definitely has the Wow factor. with his steady hands and good editing, the story retold for the morning session was fantastic. the whole hall was silent, and everybody was focused on the screen, thereafter, followed by a loud applause. it was way back in 2004 but it still sticks in mind.

i've also seen Wedding Story - Kee's work on Ai Lin's wedding. very memorable. lets us experience the tears and joy on the day without even being there. i just visited the wedding story website again, and noticed kee's improvement, in terms of his framing, and his artistic sense. kinda like the angles he was shooting from. and of course, his editing skills are not bad. At least the story is fun too watch.

Wellspun and Aaron Horton, all i can say based on their samples is Wow, very classic and timeless. although short, managed to show a few moments that are touching and mesmerizing.

Also looked at Ah Hing's sample videos. Unfortunately, i couldn't watch pass the 4th video. Got me really dizzy i had to stop. sorry. presuming ah hing placed his best work on the website (as most PG/VG would) and that the videos are actually edited to show only the highlights of the day... here's my comment. and i hope the VG takes these criticisms well:

1. i think all unpleasant moments should be edited off. Like the lady adjusting her blouse at the armpit area. bride holding and digging into the plastic bag will others look on ( i dun think the bride wants to be reminded of this).

2. The fake wedding cake should not be made so obvious by showing the couple not cutting it. i don't know if the couple wld want their viewers to know that the cake was fake.

3. not very good with angles. i think this is extremely important especially the best angles to capture the bridal couple. when the bride is taller/bigger than the groom, the VG should take from angles that will 'soften' that fact. .

4. The cropping of the photo in video 2 is really bad.. hopefully this was not done by the VG.

5. need to brush up on the framing. there are alot of unnecessary background being captured.

6. A little too much zooming in and out. tt was quite unnecessary. noticed tt most in the 1st video, if i'm not mistaken. .

7. Very weak storyline, if there is any.. kinda gives me the feeling the VG did not plan/visualise before and while shooting and editing.

8. The footage is not artistic at all.

9. Music does not synchronize very well with the flow and movements.

somehow, i feel good photography skills will make a better VG. Coz to get a good footage, you need the same skills too... the framing, the lightings, the visualising before u shoot, etc. what do you think?

but if u wanna to expand ur clientele base, 'wat u pay is wat u get' is not the right mentality to do business. one shud alwiz strive for the best n deliver only the best by continue to improving one's skills n techniques. if no money, y bother to get a VG whose skills can't even surpassed an amateur? it's better to not hire anyone at all or give that money as a gratitute token to an amateur who's willing to learn n brush up the skills.
