Hi Mommies,
Do you have any contact for swimming lessons/classes for Babies. Most of the swimming schools are giving at the age of 3 and above onwards. But I'm looking for specific swimming classes for babies 2months onwards. Would you have any contact?
Thanks!

i bought a swimming pool for my baby. i can't remember the actual price, but it is less than RM250. Comes with the pump and neck float. I put my baby to swim with the float. he is enjoying it. will let him swim again this weekend. it is so much fun seeing him kicking in the pool freely..

Dear Mommies,
Starting your new born in swimming is an excellent idea and I personally would encourage every parent to do so. Swimming at such tender age helps them to strengthen their physical aspect such as their lung and heart with cardio workout (noticed that there are alot of children been having asthma symptom), promotes growth of the baby's muscle group and inquisitiveness where as in they psychology aspect of it would be building their confidence and bonding with parents.
I have been teaching children swimming for more than 5 years from the age of 3 years and above and in my personal opinion, if you are sending your child to learn swimming as young as 3 months old or 6 months old, please join in with the coach while he or she is guiding your child in the pool.
In a child development stage, the most important lesson that they should have is to build confidence and by doing so parents are their key ingredient to have it work by bonding.
Here are some common scenario that I face when I begin my lesson with a child. They first few words were, "I am scared" / "I am scared that I will drown" / "Can you hold me please" / "Don't let go of me please". Usually, they take longer time / more classes to pick up the basics as appose to the others.
To all parents, I do encourage you to start off swimming and have "FUN" with them before you send them for lessons as I would rather reserve such precious stage of child development with the involvement of the child's parents.

Stephen Chong

I would like bring my baby to the pool because my baby like to play with water. Not sure whether it is safe due to the high chlorine or i should opt for the plastic pool bought from supermarkets.

I personally won't recommend it co's I have not seen any stringent standard that the level of chlorine in any pool that is acceptable for baby in Malaysia. For me, every time when I go for a swim or after my swim classes, my eyes turns red ... not monster red lar, but obvious. Human's eyes are sensitive and needless to say for babies.
Have you ever experienced that after your swim, you have an interesting perfume? chlorine perfume? That's a good indication that the pool is just overdose with chlorine.
I had a friend who is into supplying drinking water and sells water filter and said that the water that's coming out from our pipe contains high level of chlorine. Btw, he is a very qualified engineer major in water.... or something like that. Even our local Syabas guys seek his consultation.
Anyway, back to your question. I think that your idea is good especially if you have a child less than a year or two old. Most household have a massive filtration system outside their home and if you have this plastic pool to fill filtered water, you don't have to worry so much about the level of chlorine and cleanliness of water.

Stephen, thanks for the comments. I do not swim, but my hubby does. He always complaint that the pool like overdosed with chlorine, making is body sticky after swim. I think i will buy a plastic pool for my baby instead.
