Market rate for Dai Kam

Recommended Posts

There was once in noble Banquet...the Dai kam Jie stole the spotlight from the couple and Live Band. Yes... she's entertaining and good with her words...and that's not all! Then she started singing....and wow....she was really GOOD!! I was one of the guests in that wedding and sat near the entrance of the hall. I can see a lot of people enjoying her singing and MC skill.

The bride gave a speech...and tried very hard to be as entertaining as the Dai Kam jie. You can see the poor girl trying and trying to get people's attention but people were more keen on looking at the Dai Kam Jie who was standing on stage while the bride was talking. Alamak!

At the end of the night....tons of guests kept saying to the couple when saying goodbye how much they enjoyed Dai Kam Jie's 'performance'. The bride was upset....cos people kept talking abuot the DAI KAM JIE and not her. Even after a few weeks later...when they meet their friends and relatives....they again kept talking about the Dai Kam Jie.

I have nothing against Dai Kam Jie's....but it is better to hire one who is not so keen to bask in the spotlight like some people do.

Hi Ranul, Then she charge you quite cheap compare to mine. Both of our places are in Klang. Yet she charges RM510. But she requests another 3 more angpows from us during both sides tea ceremony and help us to setup and worship ancestor and tian gong. She said they are for 'lucky'. So, i a still considering whether to take up or otherwise. Really headache thinking of it. Actually if we do not assign one, will it be OK? Actually I also don't really know what is their purposes. :@

Erm...actually I have read some bad reviews on chaperons from Xilimen, that's why I never bother to contact them...haha, they can always said it is for 'lucky' or 'kat lai', because they know no one would argue with them, since it's a prosperous day mah...

Sometimes, those on freelance is better because they do it due to passion, not commercialised like those from a company...

Well, chaperon is required because they are expert on chinese wedding customs and procedures, praying matters and besides they can really make the event more happening and cheerful. But of coz it depends on the chaperon's skill lah...

Initially I also do not want also but my parents want oh...so I engage one loh...but thinking about it now, it's better to have one because u really do not know what to do, which is good which is bad on your wedding day...You do not want ur wedding spoilt because of wrong procedures right? I do not want to regret one day why i never have chaperon on my wedding day, hehe...

But it depends on u...if u don't believe, then don't have also never mind lah, because after all u not pantang mah...to me, marriage is successful because of the couples themselves, not because of wrong custom lah, lol...so yes, it's ok if we do not assign one...if your parents and in-laws don't mind, then no need loh...actually, if one of your aunties (must be groom side) knows the basic procedure, also can play the role alr, no need pay high to engage outside chaperon mah :)

TQVM Ranul,

You're such helpful here. Actually I thought of hiring one, but my in-laws actually don't like or I should say, they prefer something simple, cos for them they're not those whom believe in rituals and cultures. We got short 'consultation' from Xilinmen staff there about how others actually organizing their wedding ceremony. So, we have gotten a basic list for what the groom & bride should prepare for the 'guo da li' event. SO, I guess we could make it a really simple one. On the other hands, I also fully agreed with you regarding a blissful marriage is greatly depending on the couple themselves to work it out. Lengthy & tedious customs sometimes may help a little only. Besides, my fiance has just decided not to take up any chaperone anymore. Anyway, here I wish you & your lovely wife will have a wonderful & superb wedding celebration then. Congratzzz =)

DKJ (Dai Kam Jie) practises age old traditions. When our own children get married...we will be in our 50's (most likely. Our generation no longer believes much in these traditions anymore. It will be a lot easier then for our children and us then :thumbsu: .

Well, to me, tradition and custom is part of the culture of a particular ethnic...if we don't preserve, the identity will be lost over the time...those pick up bride, tea ceremony, giving angpows are all also traditions mah...yet it's still practised until today oh......

but yes, some customs are very old-fashioned and outdated, so just practise whichever you can loh....

for example, in olden days, the chaperon lady would hoist the bride onto her back and carry her to the waiting sedan chair, because it was considered bad luck for the bride's feet to touch the bare ground until after she was married...so takkan still want to follow meh, die lah the dkj....so usually the bride don't take off the shoe on wedding day even she's inside the house...even the next day also the bride would wear slippers or clogs around the house...

Hi...

For those who are looking for Dai Kam Jie or Dai Kam Kor... most impt is you have met with the person. I always believing in meeting and not just over a call and watching some videos means that person is good.

For market rate as far as i am aware of is doe Dai Kam Jie highest can go till RM588 and for Dai Kam Kor it will be RM888 within KL or Selangor. This is very much dependent on the quality so to speak.

For those are still looking or planing to look for Dai Kam Jie/Kor. do drop me a line and will get in touch with you.

Mine is RM450 + 50 (ang pau), for morning session only.

Not bad, keep talking until I have to stop her, haha! Modern and won't take ang pau from you. I knew some they will take advantage on you, to get those little small ang pau during the ceremony. Mine just one time, after finish everything.

Location, Kepong.

I just had my AD a couple of weeks ago. Everything turned out great.

My tai kam jie was good, very entertaining which the older folks loved.

She prepared chocolate gold coins for the tea ceremony, as i need to give it back to the couple that i served tea to and lolipops for kids that i hand out ang pows to.

She sang for each couple when we served tea and could do so in a few languages. :)
