Red Fan in Chinese Wedding

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Does anyone know why red fan is required in Chinese Wedding?

My wife bought from a shop in Puchong but they did not explain why we need it. Just said it's a customary.

Hi Ethan,

Maybe I am abit late, but according to the shop I went, red fan meant to be throw once the girl left the family and before entering groom's house. It's mean that whatever bad attitude of the bride are not bring over to the new family (that's for Hokkien & Teo Chew).

For Cantonese & Hakka, it's use to cover your sight, when you saw funeral or others wedding car (when you are on your way back to groom's family).

Hope that clear your question.

Thanks to Bloom Gallery for the explanation. Alot of shop don't know what it's mean though!
