goverment hospital

Recommended Posts

actually i went to UH public side but was so surprise that they request me to pay RM 500 as deposit for my first check up. they mentioned normal is RM500 and c-sec is Rm 1k. so i need to pay first. and they only accept for 5 months pregnant onwards. i never go to HUKM so i m not sure how much is that.

i think the charges will be around that too. unless go government hospital like selayang, HKL then the charges will be very cheap. some even not more that RM 50 leh

For Hukm price normal birth rm525 for stay 2 day n use epidural, for c-sec is rm1200 not more then rm1500 but we cant choose c-sec, for c-sec at hukm is for those emergency ppl only. We need to pay rm300 deposit when we start to stay at hospital

I just called HUKMSC and they say for normal delivery, it's RM1,600 to RM2,500. For c-section, it's RM4,500++.

the charges is only for the c-sec alone and exclude the room rate & baby charges or all inclusive...?

FOR HUKMSC, the rate of rooms varies. The executive 1 person is about RM245. For that rate I think it takes the average room which is a 2 person room. They do have a pricing list available. It also includes the schedule of the docs available. i must say that their opening hours can be a bit odd and only on weekdays. So you must be prepared to take the half day off for your check up.

For elle2322, i think HUKM may be a bit far for you since you stay in Damansara.

The cost mentioned above for HUKMSC comes with a single room with attached bathroom.

I also found out that Chinese Marternity Hospital is closed for renovation, for at least 1 -2 years.

As for UH, it's true, we need to give RM500 deposit and hubby is not allowed during labour. Plus there is no room, only dorm with curtains as dividers. They couldnt answer me when I asked how much it would cost for normal delivery and C-sec.

If u come from SS2, UMSC comes first on ur left and then traffic light and then UH... UMSC only has 3 floors so they only have clinics but not wards... UMSC wards is located at 10th Floor, Menara Timur in UH... UMSC doctors are usually professors/lecturers in UM and doctors in UH... they are given a chance to have their own private practice in UMSC...

First timer, not much procedure... just need to make phone call for appointment but then its still first come first serve... so everytime appointment must go early... number to call:

03 79492650/4713 (9am to 5pm only)

03 78414027 (2pm to 9pm only) - usually i call this number to make or change my appointment

I visit Prof Dr Eugene Leong... He is a very nice and friendly doctor... honestly I nvr meet gynae like him... he personally calls me to tell me the result of my each test... and he receives sms or phone call... if he busy, he will call/sms u back... once i sms him cos i wasnt feeling good... he asked me to call him back at 9pm as he was having operation... be4 9pm he called me back alredi and asked me wats wrong... then he said he is still at the clinic and he doesnt mind waiting, why dont i come over with hubby and he will check... it just gives u a feeling that he cares about u and concerns about u... I don know how to describe... i just feel safe under his care... hubby likes him a lot too...

Prof Dr Eugene is only available on Wed (2pm to 8pm) and Sat (9am to 1pm)... the rest of the time, he will be at UH...

Ok the charges... each normal visit (medication, consultation, registration fee and etc) is RM110-150... if got blood test then its around RM250 like that... the charges is like normal private clinic/hospital... UMSC is not cheap... i check out the bed... double room is rm180, single is rm200 and VIP is rm300 (means got astro and fridge)... so its like normal private hospital also... btw, each time u consult Prof Dr Eugene u have to pee in the bottle and he will check ur protein, sugar and etc... he checks every visit... i heard some private hospitals dont even check this until u r 20+ weeks... but Prof Dr Eugene checks from the beginning of ur pregnancy...

Each time i see Prof Dr Eugene, I spent like 20 minutes with him...

Hope the info helps!

p/s: Prof Dr Eugene is not my relative (though he has almost the same name like my hubby except for the last name, LOL) or I receive anything from him for talking good about him... Its just my personal experience and I just wanna share my good experience with u girls... :)

Hi Babysiew,

I just called UMSC and they said we need to pay a deposit of RM3K and for c-sec is RM6K when admitted. It comes with a sinlge rooma and husband is allowed during labour. They couldn't answer exactly what is the cost for normal birth but usually RM3.6K++ if nothing is wrong. This is without epidural.

Babysiew, how much did you spent? And which room did you opt for?

Thank so much :)

Elle

Hi, I'm elle & i'm nw almost 5mths pregnant, first child.

I am currently getting my monthly check-ups in Damansara Specialist but I wish to deliver in a government (full/semi) as the cost is cheaper.

hi elle,

I gave birth in Damansara Specialist & I dont think my final bill was very expensive - RM3.8k (I had epidural), 3D2N, double room. May I know which doctor you are seeing? My obgyn is Dr Neoh & I had the option of taking the maternity package which cost RM2.5k for everything but bcos I took epidural, I cant take the package finally. If I am not mistaken, we paid RM1/2k deposit only when I was admitted.

I am satisfied with their service & they are breastfeeding friendly hospital.

Maybe you can ask your obgyn about any packages you can take?

Hi Janicelly :)

May I knw when did you give birth in Damansara Specialist?

My obgyn is Dr Guna. I just called Dr Guna's clinic and they dun offer maternity package. The cost is around RM3-4K, including epidural. I asked other than epidural, what else are they giving? The nurse said everything. I would like to ask what do they mean by "everything"? But funny, it is not inclusive of room rates.

I'm trying to get hold of Dr Neoh but no one is in.

hi elle,

i gave birth in Jan this year. i think not all docs in DSH have the "maternity package" - i also wonder why. after your feedback, i can confirm Dr Susanna & Dr Guna dont have.

cost aside, if you are comfortable with Dr Guna, why dont you stick to him? sometimes you might "save" some $$ but when you are in labor, you must feel safe & have confidence in your doc lo. that's my personal opinion la.

Hi Janicelly,

To be honest, I'm not really comfortable with Dr Guna. I don't know.. no connection. That's why I have no problem switching.

I'm still trying to contact Dr Neoh and will keep you posted if he still has the maternity package.

Thanks again, Janicelly :)

hi everyone,

wun to ask, aftr you giv birth,do you get to hold your baby immediately?my fren who is a doctor told me that the new policy is to let the mummy hold the baby immediately aftr your baby is born so that baby can feel mother's love.and also to let u breastfeed on the spot.aftr that, only will they clean the baby and let the mummy hav any required stitches.hope that it's true, coz i will be very excited to hold my baby when the time comes.

do you find antenatal classes helpful?me and hubby plan to register for the class, coz my fren say they will teach you all the necessary knowledge of handling newborn baby and what to do during labor.if you register at government hospital, its free.
