Hi girls thanks for your info and it's been great to know that all BTB are so helpful! :)

I was very busy with work and only manage to check the forum now. I've already found a seamstress who works frm home in Damansara Kim. Just like sseahorsee, I have to buy my own fabrics for my bridesmaids. I have 4 bridesmaids, one of them is my sister who's my maid of honor. She will have a different design from the rest using the same material.

sseahorsee...

I love your bridesmaids dresses! They look so lovely!! Are their dresses full length or tea dress style? Mine has similar design with a sash too. I was quoted RM300 per dress (full length) for workmanship. Sigh! Paying more expensive ... Hopefully it will turn out as nice as yours.

hi girls.. the tailor i went to is janns chan.. her shop is called janns collections in section 14.. her contact number is 03-79570075 or 016-3090940.. i think her charges are very much dependent on how many you're making and how complicated is the design.. for my bridesmaids, i followed one of the designs from coast.. she charged my rm200 per dress.. i bought the cloth (indian raw silk) from euro moda in bangsar.. the cloth came to about rm100 per dress.. so total was about rm300 per dress.. it was definitely worth it as my bridemaids absolutely loved the dresses!! :) this is how it looks like..

Does anyone here has a maid of honor for their wedding besides, bridesmaid? If so, must their dress differ from bridesmaid's dress?

Hmm....differentiating the maid of honor from the other bridesmaid has a risk. If she wore a bit more elaborate than other bridesmaid, would she be mistaken as the bride?

Just my two cents..

Edna,

I think her dress has to be different from the bridesmaid, at least in terms of color.

You may just want your MOH to wear a slightly different style of dress, but keep within the same color scheme...

i think no harm in wearing different design and variation of the root colours.

in fact i'm asking my maids of honour to do that as all of them don't look the same. so rather than forcing them to wear the same 'uniform' why not allow ur ji mui to shine on their own too? imagine u spend few hundred bucks or up to 1k just on producing a 'uniform' that they're not likely gonna wear again.

my ji mui bought dresses from shopping malls (e.g. padini, H&M, tangs) as they like as long as the colours are alright and within budget. it all cost less than rm100 per pax and the best thing is, they all look beautiful and unique. when standing together it creates a more colourful picture too.

think outside of the box. sometimes traditional 'fashion rule' can be broken. no harm to be bold to have something more creative. =)

Hi LMH

Could you please email me the photos? rs1608@yahoo.com.

Thanks..

I did thought about it also, if I can find off the rack, it can be different design but same colour, but if tailor make then it has to be same material & the colour of my choice, design wise can vary, but of course if is the same design it will cost relatively less as the tailor only need to come up with the one pattern, just make 3 dresses in 3 different sizes.

Ji-mou dresses just need the same color scheme... it doesnt matter light or bright or dark..

Thanks for the tip kenobikamiya.. :-)
