beautifulgown 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2008 venees,It is really nice, I showed it to my niece she likes it too and urge me to get one like yours .. haahha .. RM1k oh, over my budget and plus I don't plan to have a wedding cake for my receiption, but a simple cake for luncheon.Actually guests will notice the wedding cake and if it is in hotel or restaurant, most guests will not care especially it if many tiers! because they know those are fake one :P but yours are differ, yours are real one and I'm sure people will admire your cake. Really nice lah :)

ashandrea 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2009 Wow Tsukushi, love your cupcakes, they're so pretty!Your hubby's aunt actually decorated the cake herself? Her work is very delicate & neat Our wedding cake was made from cupcakes by a friend of mine. We also wanted to give cupcakes as wedding favours but it was a too pricey so we just skipped that.Wish we could have done it though as it'll look really pretty. "You are NUTS!" that's a super gorgeous cake!! haha truly, i salute you, i see it's DIY all the way! ^^ you truly are creative leh!!!i say you are nuts but huh yeah, i'm doing my own 3-tier cake for my pre-wedding too (sweating at my own design after looking at yours hahaha)... saves a whole lot of $! also DIY-ing the save-the-dates, possibly cards, thank you notes... i am happy i found someone as cwazee as me to actually do all this on their own! hehe i don't feel so cwazee after all! i'm inspired! i wouldn't have allowed anyone to cut a cake as good-looking as that! ;)This is my nearly complete wedding cake (need to add the leaves tomorrow afternoon/morning). I started work at 6pm and finished at 10pm (I also did another cake but will put up pics of that cake later).I'm quite happy with the outcome; my dad thinks I should NOT cut the cake tomorrow (I am having a house buffet tomorrow). "It looks too nice!" he says.

Audreyee 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2009 I just went to Choffles in Sunway and I will not go back there again or recommend anyone to go there. I went there to enquire about wedding favours and it was a simple miniature two-tier cake, which I have enquired elsewhere that it was possible to make and has been made before. So I thought with Choffles being quite established, they would be able to do it as well so I went to get a price quotation. Best part was, one of their taglines I noticed was "Making dreams come true" and you know what one of the guy said to me when I asked about the miniature two-tier cake? He said, "It's not worth our time" That's very nice isn't it? To say such things to your customer. Even if they can't do it, don't say it's not worth your time lah. Just apologise and say that they don't happen to do that kinda design etc. OMG. A big turn off.Dear Rosa,OMG,thank god i read your message. i was about to ask them to make my wedding cake because the website attracted me. They r just too commecialize that is y they r so rude. 999 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2009 Hi girls, i actually asked from few dfferent suppliers an estimation quote for weddin cakes...I contacted choffles at Dsara Perdana, they r very frenly & prompt in reverting..Rosa, perhaps they indeed to commercialise ady...thats y they behave that way...But i wonder y its so much expensive for ordering wedding cake.RM690 for a 2 tier cake...What u girls think of it? Or is this price consider affordable?I got another quote which is RM450 for 2 tier. Seems too much different... But if wanna higher cake then just add RM100...Wonder 2 tier cake will be enough of not? As i dun plan to serve it to my guests after dinner...cos they will have 8 or 9 course chinese menu dinner ady...Any advise? Pls share..
meiteoh 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2009 Well, it can be expensive for a number of reasons as I shared with an MB member - I'm not a professional baker but I did my own wedding cake and attend cake deco classes so I can roughly work out why wedding cakes can be an expensive affair:Budget for wedding cake depends on several factors:1) Design and detail2) Size and weight3) Type of cake and coveringDesign and detail here refers to the obvious - are you looking for a simple colour with one or two colours, nothing fancy or are you thinking of elaborate designs with intricate flowers, toppers and so forth?Size and weight depends on mainly the number of guests that you have but generally, most wedding cakes are at least two tiers and go by the kilo.Type of cake and covering refers to flavours and type of frosting. Most of the time, wedding cakes use fondant because of the finish - smooth and matte which looks better on pictures and frankly, lasts longer in our weather. Also, a lot of elaborate designs with flowers and custom toppers are made and sculpted from fondant. The down side is that fondant can be quite sweet. Butter cream and royal icing can be cheaper but limits the cake to basic designs and coverings - professional wedding cake bakers prefer to work with fondant but can custom a cake to take butter cream and royal icing. In terms of flavour, it can vary from chocolate, tiramisu to the classic fruit cake but no sponge cakes or mousse cakes if you're doing anything tiered because the cakes need to support each other (especially the bottom layer). After that, other pricing factor involves "brand" - a renowned bakery can charge up to RM1K for a 3 tier cake or you can get around RM600 for an intricate 2 tier design with an equally lovely topper from a normal baker.Bear in mind that fruit cakes will be more expensive because of the content of the cake - brandy, mixed fruits and nuts are not cheap. (I would know...I made my own wedding cake! laugh.gif )Don't forget that not only are you paying for the cake itself but you're also paying for labour, creativity as well as branding. The general rule has always been the more complicated the design, the more tiers, the more "complex" the cake (ingredients and such), the more expensive it will be. beautifulgown 0 Report post Posted June 12, 2009 Mabel was right, all the factors are taken into the account =)By the way I didn't engage the previou bakery which I intended to for my wedding cupcakes since they cannot accommodate to my requirement, now I engaged with another person who can give me fondant with the design I want (hope so la =P) slightly smaller than what uncle cake house can give me and it charge RM1 =)
