Would like to ask around any recommendation of good Padeatrician / Children Doctor?
It is generally recommended to visit one from the Hospital or private practised clinic is ok also?

Appreciate you can share some of your experiences

Hi Bobbleant,

I'm staying at kepong too, and i also delivered at Sunway Medical. But i changed my baby pediatrician to 1 of the childcare clinic nearby my house after my baby fullmoon. The clinic is located at Aman Puri,Kepong name Kinik Pakar Kanak Kanak Dr.Chin. The doc is around 30 yr plus, very frenly and informative. Sometimes i do called the clinic up to ask questions regarding baby. However there is 1 thing not so good..thats is the clinic always full booking. So you will need to called in advance to get a booking number before you go to the clinic to avoid waiting too long.

The fee is very reasonable, is cheaper than private hospital abit.

Let me know if you need more info.

Hi Polarsam,

Thanks for the the info. Good to know there is good doctor and clinic nearby. Can you PM me the clinic contact number?
Do we have to see a pediatrician in the Hospital first for the few weeks or few months, before change to childcare clinic? I mean for like injections and checkup.. or clinic also provide this services?

Thanks smile.gif

I delivered at Sunway and I stuck to the paediatrician there from the first day till now. His name is Dr. Tan Teong Yong and I know some mommies here dont like him cos they said he's very lcly. But so far he was very good and friendly, and he took time to explain things to me in details.

hi Bobble,

the clinic phone number is 62743922. Business hour is 9am-1pm, 6.30pm-10.00pm (monday - friday) saturday until 1pm only.

Hmm i just change my baby doc after he discharge from hospital. Coz your baby will only need to return for injection after 1 month. So straight away after 1 month i bring my baby to another doctor.

Hope this info help.

PeiPei, we are also given Dr Tan Teong Yong, had only visited him once so far, can't say much yet... but i think his nurses are kind of 'cold'..

Polarsam, thanks for the contact & details, will checkout the clinic. It always good to know of a clinic nearby in case of emergency..

Hi Janicelly,

I always see the Klinik Kanak Kanak Cheng to be quite crowded. Is it good?
Am staying around that area and will be relieved if can find a good paediatrician nearby.

Thanks.

My paed is same as Sherreen, Dr Liew at USJ...agree that his consultation is pricey, charging the same price as my Sunway medical paed, Dr Rosalie Yip...I'm staying in Kota Kemuning area, there is one paed there, Dr Low is good too, charges is lower than both of them, but her office hr is 8.30am-12pm, 6-8pm....so i hv 3 paeds as standby, just in case i need them at different time.

Hi Mimossa,

May I know what is Dr Liew consultation fee charges? Currently my baby's paed is Dr Lim from Sunway Medical but I need another one for standby as SunMed consultation time is not flexible. Dr Lim consultation fee is RM60.

Thanks in advance.

I have tried a couple of Paed...But decided to settle on Sunway medical - Dr. Khoo Boo Aik, he is not only the Paed, but he is also a Neonatologist.
He is a kind and very patient guy. He explained things in detail.

Earlier on I bring my baby girl to SJMC, Dr.Khoo Phaik Choo, but the waiting time is insane! I waited for 4 hours just to get an immunization jap. Dr.Khoo is very good if you are willing to wait for long hour.

I have tried Dr.Liew in USJ Taipan, the clinic is crowded on weekend. Dr.Liew is very friendly and love kids. He can get along well with kids, but then he has a lot of patients waiting too. However, the waiting time is better than SJMC though.

OK..now sharing the experience why I chose Sunway Medical.

My baby was having bad diarrhoea when she was 5 months old. I took a taxi to Dr.Liew clinic but it is closed! It is not their usual close day, I saw they stick some note on the door, but I didn't go check it out. Since the clinic is closed and I don't know where else has good paead, so I decided to send my girl to SJMC to see Dr.Khoo.

I waited from 3pm to 6pm, until my girl developed high fever! I told the nurse and the kind nurse help to check the temperature. It is 39.8 degrees C! and that time Dr.Khoo PC has 20 patients waiting on the list. The kind nurse help to call another Paed nurse to check if the Malay Lady Paed willing to see my baby since she only has 10 patients waiting on the list. Guess what! The nurse went and check with the Malay Lady Paed and was told that SHE IS NOT WILLING to see my baby despite she is having high fever and diarrhoea! The nurse went to see Dr.Khoo PC and she ask to bring the baby to the medication room and insert the medicine into her buttock. Then we have to continue waiting for our turn. I waited until 8pm before I get to see the Paed. 3-8pm is freaking 5 hours!

One more incident happened when we about to go in to see Dr.Khoo. There is a malay family, with a girl, around 7-8 years old. The family has called SJMC and make an appointment, and was told that they are the last patient. Somehow, not sure if the nurse mix up the waiting list or what, some other patient went in to see the doctor before that Malay family. The Paed then told the nurse that was the last patient he/she going to see. He/She refused to see the Malay family although they are the last and appointment is made beforehand. Not sure if this is the same Paed that refused to see my daughter or not.

The next day night, my girl still has slight fever and diarrhoea, and she started to refuse milk/any food. We are thinking to admit her to hospital, but I strongly against to send her to SJMC although it is just next to our housing area. Hubby then sent the poor little girl to Sunway medical, we went to A&E, the nurse was extremely nice! He keep us updated every 10 mins on what is going on...such as, telling us the doctor is doing minor surgery...how much times it take before the doctor and see us..etc...The next day Dr.Khoo BA came and see my girl to explain to us what he suspect and what are the test he will take to find out the root cause of diarrhoea. He came and check on my baby twice a day to make sure that she is alright. He also spent a lot of time explaining and answering to our question. Sometimes half way he explaining, my hubby came..then he will repeat whatever he told me to my hubby.

My baby admitted in Sunway Medical for one week due to Salmonella infection and both Paed and Nurse providing very good service during our stay there. Since then I have settle to see Dr.Khoo BA in Sunway Medical. The waiting time is not long at all even though it is on Sat. I think the longest I waited is around 30 minutes.

I will never go back to SJMC if I have a choice!

lw_cath,

If you ever need to go back to SJMC, try Dr Sanjay. He is very nice and kind. He explains everything in details and ease our worry. Waiting time is within 1 hour. He is the type that will help us save money, will call personally to update us with blood test result.

I like Dr Liew in USJ Taipan too
but this consultancy fees is RM 60...
very pricey leer...

last month i bring my son to see him coz my son refused to drink milk.
Dr Liew check my baby and said there is nothing wrong with him then he
explained to us that we should feed him on demand. He also prescribed
the probiotic for my baby. When i got my bill.. I almost got shocked!
I know he is pricy and there is nothing wrong with my son and he only
take probiotic so i expected the most also the bill up to RM100..

but the bill cost me RM 180, RM 60 is consultancy fees and the probiotic cost me RM 120.

However, my baby willing to take milk and i feel that the probiotic is good.. only give him 5 drops
per day and the bottle can last for 1mth+,

bunnyNwife : Thanks for the info...I shall look for him if I go to SJMC.

Sam : Nerissa has feeding problem as well. Dr.Liew prescribed the probiotic to us as well. Dr.Khoo BA suggest to give her multi-vitamin (Appeton Infant Drop) which is much more affordable.
