smurf 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2007 just to share with all of you....i have recently collected keys to my apartment...done quite a fair bit of survey on kitchen cabinet....signature kitchen is really nice....but you have to pay a hefty price for it...and usually they use laminated material (ABS, which contains saw dust)...i think its too high a price to pay for saw dust and it certainly doesnt last....in most kitchen, the moisture level is quite high....and saw dust is terriblly sensitive to water and moisture....although the lamination is water proof, the joint isnt (the perpendicular part, if you guys get what i mean) secondly, if you go to a carpenter, what he offers is laminated ply wood...means its solid wood inside with lamination on the outer layer...this option gives you a wider variety of choice...you can play with colours....with the lamination, honestly, it does look very cheap.... so after months of survey, i have decided to go with solid wood....the disadvantage is that i cant have any other colour apart from shades of brown for the doors.... as for the top, i was hesitating between solid surface and natural granite....to my surprice, natural granite is slightly cheaper compared to solid surface...the biggest disadvantage of natural granite is that joints between slabs of granite are very obvious....and you need to find a skillful installer for it...otherwise it there might be leaking problem....however, unlike solid surface, granite is not proned to scratches...neither does it chip off easily...at the end, i have decided to go for white solid surface because my doors are all walnut colours...with black granite....its just too much....and the lighter colours granite doesnt appeal to me at all....if i had the budget for arcylic doors, i would have opt for natural granite.... if any of you need any contacts, whether its interior designer, kitchen specialist, or granite supplier...just let me know...i have all their prices...but i have settled for a kitchen deisgner and will also be doing my wardrobe..his price is the best by far.... digitalkl 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2007 smurf, you are quite right in all accounts. one thing about "solid wood" is that there is not much choice and also that the door has sort of a frame instead of a smooth surface. This frame makes it looks a bit old fashion. Please see the picture and tell me if this is correct - solid wood - normal doors- i got my carpenter to do with plywood and real wood veneer instead - pls take a look here http://renotalk.20.forumer.com/viewtopic.p...sc&start=
bubblegum 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2007 as for the top, i was hesitating between solid surface and natural granite....to my surprice, natural granite is slightly cheaper compared to solid surface...the biggest disadvantage of natural granite is that joints between slabs of granite are very obvious....and you need to find a skillful installer for it...otherwise it there might be leaking problem....however, unlike solid surface, granite is not proned to scratches...neither does it chip off easily...at the end, i have decided to go for white solid surface because my doors are all walnut colours...with black granite....its just too much....and the lighter colours granite doesnt appeal to me at all....if i had the budget for arcylic doors, i would have opt for natural granite.... if any of you need any contacts, whether its interior designer, kitchen specialist, or granite supplier...just let me know...i have all their prices...but i have settled for a kitchen deisgner and will also be doing my wardrobe..his price is the best by far.... I was hesitating with these 2 options as well when I was deciding for my kitchen top. I got advises from people from overseas to use ceaserstone as the top which is a natural stone and heat resistent as well. Unlike granites and solid surface, they are not really suited for putting hot stuff on top. I got advises from those kitchen specialist that blank granites will change colour IF you put hot stuff on top. So at the end of the day, u might end up with 2 different colour top! That's why I ended with solid surface as well but those volcanic look alike solid surface which will help me to hide all the scratches if there's any. Hopefully our choice to choose solid surface is a correct one.
smurf 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2007 digitalk, you are quite right...but my guy manage to source a newer design for me...almost similar to the one you posted...but it somehow look slightly more modern...once my kitchen is ready i will post pictures of it here...my kitchen will be very dark brown with white solid surface... ...actually i wanted white doors with black solid surface...but they cant do white doors in solid wood...and arcylic is way out of my budget... bubblegum, which brand did you buy? i got kitch...same as what Ikea is selling...i heard Corian is really nice...but way out of my budget....but i manage to get my kitchen guy to give me thick profiles (the piece that is perpendicular the kitchen top)....its about 70mm....the top piece is standard size..about 15mm i think

It's one of those brand out there and it's originated from Korea. Corian is waaayyyyy... to expensive! My kitchen cabinet should be ready in about 2 weeks time. They will be coming to install the carcasses of the cabinets next week and the top will be in 2 weeks later. Well, hopefully my concept of having an ALL white kitchen will work out well. *praying*.. Will try to post some pics when it's ready. I know how much it is that we need to spend to renovate a new house. My budget skyrocketed to 50% more than what I had originated from. That's why I always checkout www.offernutz.com to get some warehouse sales info. That site helped me to get my TEKA sink and tap at a 50% discount ! hehe .. cavalierlover 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 hello all,We got ours from Signature Kitchen (the one in Kota D'sara). We didn't really scout around at that time as we had something in our mind already.. went to a few kitchen showrooms and found they couldn't do what we wanted (one even had the guts to tell us the MDF are better than solid wood)... finally saw it in Signature and wham! we put down our order as we didn't really want to go round and round anymore :P ...I gotta admit their installers aren't 100% great. We requested them to change 2 parts of the kitchen (1 piece of wood at the top of the hood and 1 piece at the spice rack). They did it in 1.5 weeks (need to custom made that 2 piece because it is solid wood). End result? We like the kitchen ...Of course, I still think, their installation work could've been slightly better for the price we pay ;)
jiahuan 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2008 My hubby and I did go to Signature Kitchen asking for quotation. The price that they quoted us is very expensive. We never ask for solid wood because that will burst our budget. With the normal Melamine board and without other accessories, it had already exceeded our budget plus we cannot choose 2 different color for our kitchen cabinet. End up we used CK Kitchen. The price offered is within our budget and we are very satisfied with the finished products. We have 2 different colors for our dry kitchen cabinet. So as wet kitchen cabinet. In fact, our room wardrobes are also using 2 different color. We have this idea because we saw the design in their showroom and we like it. At least it is not so dull by using one color. The workmanship and customer service provided is worth for the money we pay. Some more they gave some accessories with FOC. Of course some of it we had to pay because we wanted some extra accessories. Who want to install kitchen cabinet perhaps can contact this no. 012-3067988 David Chong from CK Kitchen. Btw, it is located in Puchong.

Pink Kitty 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2008 Dear all,I strongly recommending Shuang Yi Kitchen Sdn Bhd! You can go to it's webby, just click on the link and have a look.It does all sort of carpentry works, eg wardrobe, kitchen cabinet, shoes rack, tv rack, partition, bed frame etc. The reason I recommend:-1. Price- It's very reasonable. I have been doing surveys, so far it is the most reasonable one. A ceiling height, 6' width, sliding wardrobe (sliding doors both glass) with anti-jump system is less than RM2.8k!2. Honesty/Patient/Dedicated- The guy is being very very honest. He wouldn't push you to do/change things that is not suitable. If it's too expensive, not worthwhile or ugly he would tell you. He would even tell u where to get cheap marble slabs. And he is very patient in explaining the different types of wood, how things work etc...and when he took measurement at my house, he was also visualizing the house ID, and give you ID suggestions and etc. Not like other shop just take and ciao~!3. Professional- The guy is really hands-on, just tell him the design you want, he can IMMEDIATELY draw a 3D image of the thing, we're like "WOW", very impressed. After that he would give you the quotation on the spot.As they manufacture the cabinets themselves, therefore, it's definitely cheaper than those "ID shop" or "whatever Kitchen". But the design and works done is similar to those branded ones. Their factory is in Klang. However, they have a show room in D'sara Perdana. If you want the contact of that guy, please PM me~ I'll give you his handphone and name :)xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxMy friend went to ROWENTA last week, it sucks like hell! The girl told him that it would be quite DIFFICULT to do a TV RACK!!! And ROWENTA emphasis "FREE DESIGN" in their advertisement, but when my friend request to take the draft drawing that the girl drawn back home, she said CANNOT! She hasn't given my friend any indicative quotation, said have to measure first. But when my friend ask her to go measure she said need to pay DEPOSIT 1st only they go measure! WTF?!!! After pay deposit you think we still have bargain power meh?!!! Idiotic shop!
