  1. Try using pictures, I guess that would be easier for her to understand. Does she knows how to read?? you could get the agent to help you to write out some instructions in khmer, then just point it out to her when u want her to do that. I was lucky to get a maid who is slightly educated, she is capable to comprehend very simple instructions, now (6mths) she could chit chat with us and teach my babies A,B,C ya, actually i thought of using pictures also, like teaching kids how to learn english, lolz so far she is able to do all that we wanted her to do, but she seldom speak, that's the main reason i want to learn their language after all, she is also human, we are very afraid she will go nuts if she keeps quiet all the time
  2. you are so lucky to have one that can pick up language fast:) my MIL is training her and i really hope she wont vomit blood, lol
  3. hi all i have got a new cambodian maid and i totally don't know how to communicate with her, can anyone help me with some basic khmer language? simple instructions like clean the dishes, sweep the floor, iron the clothes, keep the clothes when rain etc. i don't know, the list seems forever never ending, anyone with cambodian maid experience, please help? agent said they give them 3 months training before they come, yes she can do most of the housework quite well, but she can't speak a word of english and i am afraid because she has not spoken for one whole day sometimes (will she goes crazy if it continues like that?)
  4. dear all, I married 6 months ago and I plan to change job because of some complication at my current position. But my concern is I don't want to delay the baby making plan, if I change job, i have to wait for 1 year service before I am entitled for maternity leave, is that correct? Even though the labour law says whoever works for more than 3 months are entitled for maternity leave, but most of the company gives maternity leave only upon 1 year service. At one hand, I feel insecure to let go the MC and maternity leave, at the other hand, I would like to progress in my career before I conceive. Please advice and share experience, thank you:)
  5. I am planning for a trip to Italy in March, now deciding between Reliance and GTT, one go to Italy and Austria, the other goes to Italy and French Riviera. We purposely choose a trip covering less countries so that we don't have to spend a lot of time travelling. In fact I prefer the Reliance itinerary, but i heard most people say GTT is better in terms of hotel and food. Reliance only cover breakfast and dinner, where as GTT covers all 3 meals everyday. Same duration but GTT charge extra RM400. Anyone has taken Europe tour with Reliance or GTT, please share your experience.. Thank you banyak banyak:)
  6. most of the MUA in Melaka are the students of Nini Wong, the founder of StarBizz. I engaged her for my wedding and I am very happy with the outcome, she gives me surprises by 3 totally different stunning look. if you ask me, i will definitely recommend her:) go read the thread under malacca brides, i have a list of MUA, PG, Wine etc there if you need more details.
  7. i love excel too! i did my finances in excel but my hubby thinks i'm a geek/weirdo! we are registered but have not gone through our chinese wedding yet, so we're still living separately unofficially. hence we have not started sharing our finances. i wonder if it's a good thing to share though, at least for my case. he pays for everything in his house (he's living with his only sister) and everything when we are together, which includes travelling :P (for the past 2 years). since i am living at home, i don't pay for anything much except money to my parents. i have my own investment in condo and so is he. but we'll be moving into a house his parents bought for him. so i don't think i'll be used to the idea of sharing my money with anyone. i like to spoil myself at times with expensive purchases and trips abroad which he does not approve much of. any suggestion? lucky you yunarie, life is so good when your hubby pay for everything.. my hubby used to do that but as we start a family now, i also wanted to contribute to the family as well, i do not want to leave the burden on him alone:)
  8. huh? you keep track of each and every cent spent kah? i feel very malas to debit credit everyday la..some more sometimes you just don't know where the money goes.. i just make to make sure how much money i must save every month, and after kahwin.. due to different lifestyle and view point on how we should spend the money, i suddenly do not know what to do:(
  9. Lol, you are good! Well, myself just got married to my hubby 3 weeks back after our 7 years relationship. During our courtship, i paid for the house utilities bills and groceries, and of course, my own expenses and car loan stuffs like that. And he paid for the house instalment and our expenses for meal at outside. The same arrangement is carrying on till now. yeah, i see most couple are having more or less the same arrangement, then do you all save money together or separately?
  10. woo.. i am starting to work on excel too, but do until very pening.. for example, is credit card payment considered expenses? if yes, then we cannot categories what and where we have spent wo.. mish, mind to share your template so that i can learn from you? my hubby and i are having 2 separate account now, but we was thinking to open one joint account for the household thingy..
