  1. Hello ladies, I've been trolling the blogs for several months and am currently deep in the throes of wedding planning. Here is what I've managed to secure so far for the wedding date in September 2008: 1) Ceremony to be held at St. Peter's 2) Reception dinner at Merdeka Palace -- any thoughts on this? How's their service for the day of? 3) Flowers and decor by Pretty Petals 4) Cake by Aunty Olive's Cakes --- mmm delicious! :P 5) Day of photography by Alvin Leong - banyak mahal leh.....! 6) Makeup and hair by Alvin's sister, Carol - any thoughts on her? 7) Beer and wine from Armada Wine and Liquor - really nice guy who owns the place . Here's what I can't seem to be able to find online and really need help with :o : 1) I need a wedding band to play at the reception. A band that can do a mix of jazz like Sinatra and pop like Rihanna's Umbrella. Does anyone have a lead on a good band? I found "Groove Company" online, but not sure if they do weddings. Help help help! 2) MC to help with the wedding. Any any gracious assistance would be appreciated. Thank you thank you thank you.
  2. Hi Genie, Asther Lau does FreeLance. I've seen her work and it's pretty amazing - I'll PM you her email addy.
  3. Hi Joanne, I contracted Alvin Leong for his day-of photography services. I think all in all I'm paying $5000 which includes 10 hours of two working photographers (himself and his junior photographer), a large professionally assembled wedding album, a framed large portrait and 200 high resolution digital prints. It's definitely pricey, but I visited other photography studios and he is by far the best. He is more of a documentary photographer so lots of natural shots ( not many poses ). As for the reception, I've booked Merdeka Palace as they are a decent hotel that does not have a 30 table minimum. Hilton, which is a nicer place has a 30 table minimum. The ballroom is friggin HUGE so if you don't have at least 50 tables, it'll feel really lapang lapang. The food is pretty darn good! I did a food tasting and was QUITE pleased. My favorite part of the ballroom is that it's theatre style so there's a balcony you can use. I'll be using it for a beer and wine reception for guests prior to seating them in the dining area. For Flowers, I contracted Pretty Petals. Apparently they are the best in Kuching, albeit pricey. I still have no idea what my theme should be as Merdeka Palace's decor is quite rich (carpet is a very beautiful red) and it's a theatre style ballroom. Band - that's still up for suggestions? I hope this gives you a good start - let me know if you need contact information. and congratulations on the pending nuptials!
  4. Hi ladies, Is it normal to have dancing at a Chinese wedding? What's the best way to incorporate it into the programme?
