  1. Its interesting to see that many BTB opt to go for a AD wedding photographer. I'm having the quationnaires in my blog to see if a videographer is important too in your actual wedding day and at least 80% say "yes"! Anyway... it's great to know but these are all very subjective and it depends on ur budget and whom you hire for your actual day wedding photographer. William G.
  2. Wah! De Casamia so cia lattt wan ar? Thank God my own wedding wasn't in KL. William
  3. Sorry, just realized that there is a "typo" error. The question is "Which" camera is good for general usage instead of "Why". Sorry for the typo error. William
  4. Hi all, Today I would like to talk about the cameras to recommend to anyone for general usage. I have clients whom engaged me liked those pics I took and seek my advice which camera (or brand) to purchase if they would like to use it for general use (eg. for travelling, family gathering, birthday party, outdoor or indoor photo shoot). First of all, lets look @ your budget. Second, why do you want to purchase that particular brand? Third, what function do you want in order to produce a picture that you really like Fourth, are you looking for the convenience of it or would you like to carry a big camera bag around? Anyone who's keen to know, pls post your comments or questions here, thanks ya! William G. My Wedding Photographer
  5. Hi s2k, That's true indeed... I spend my own pre-wedding BS shots for only RM 1,688. Dirt cheap, good shots with great qualities. Something which I wanted. I think KL BS charging too much... Oh yeah, i noticed too, many AD photographer goin for high pricing too... Still, it depends how much they are worth and how much $$$ they put to advertise themselves. U know la, once-in-a-lifetime memories, the couple are bound to spend a lot for their wedding but going through budget and choosing the right BS and AD PG is very very important. That's why, wise choice makes them a better spender. Wah... S2k, u really plan well for ur wedding ar. Doing lotsa research eh? hehe... Good consumer. William
  6. hi gals, am not trying to side on which type of photography that a couple should choose but would it be worth it to spend RM 10 k or RM 8 k for a pre-wedding? currently our team are venturing into pre-wedding shoots too and the response is great! But when we mention 'great' doesn't mean they pay RM 5k or RM8k for a pre-wedding but they get more shots returned than what they expected. The last case we had for a pre-wedding, at least 400 over shots when given back to them. But a BS would charge you a single piece. Isn't it crazy? William
  7. Yes... tat's true. Still, it's all about perception. I had one client, well... didn't engage me as they are already out of budget. They spent RM 7k for pre-wedding. No $$$ to spend on AD... I felt sad for them ler... cause they came and told me that they missed out so many of the actual day photos. Those who believe that AD is the most important, I can show you why. Just PM me I will give you the links. At least 3 really great ones.... Those pics worth more $$$ than those for pre-weddings as like what the rest of you said, only that they your family members and friends are around and the AD photographer has the biggest responsibility to make sure the pics are nicely and well taken. William
  8. Oh yes... definately. I got many comments already. I have a client who spend RM 10k for their pre-wedding. They took indoor at the studio in Jln Ipoh and outdoor @ Ulu Yam Dam. All turned out so-so onli. So I was very puzzled, why spend RM 10k? William i personally think that AD PG are more importants than prewedding photographer. U can always take prewedding photos as and when needed provided money is not an issue. If u do not like the photos taken from ur bs, u can go to another bs to take another set. Whereas on AD, we cant turn back the clock. Those ppl u invited may not able to come to attend again for ur AD wedding and some ppl might not able to come as well. Some ppl might not in the world anymore..coi coiii...pui puiiii...... all the tears and laughter are instant and not by pose. I am still view my AD tea ceremony slideshow and still laugh at it, whereas my prewedding album already in the cupboard preparing to collect dust. Well, thats my opinion but if u got budget for prewdding and AD PG as well, y not, and just go ahead lor. But if u want me to choose either 1, i will choose AD PG. Whereas for prewedding package by BS, i only want my dream gowns for AD..
  9. Hi ladies, I have come across couples that they spent a lot of $$$ on Pre-Wedding photography and they end up without any budget for Actual Day photography or videography. What do you think of that? William
  10. That is pretty expensive. William MY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER www.my-weddingphotographer.com MSN: myweddingphotographer@hotmail.com
  11. Hi all, I just met one pre-wedding photographer who shoots at Ulu Yam dam few days ago. Nice scenery though. In fact, both place - FRIM and Ulu Yam is highly recommended for those who like outdoor & greenery shots. If you dun wanna go far, come over to Bdr Sunway, right in front of Sunway Resort Hotel. I'm pretty sure u will get plenty of nice shots there too! :o) William MY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER www.my-weddingphotographer.com
  12. Ladies, what you said is right. I was a victim myself lah.. I'm a AD photographer and almost got con like most of you. In fact, my client got cheated by one of the BS in SS2. Nice album was displayed in exhibition and at the end, the result came out bad and was it was taken by another amateur photographer. Anyway, if I didn't argue on that day when my wife and I booked the package at the BS, then these people "untung". I was pissed off when they wanted to add additional stuff after we paid the full amount @ the time of booking. Well, of course we argue and at the end, we walk away with a RM 1,699 package which should be amounted at RM 2,499. Haha!!! We didn't pay x'tra for the VIP gowns. Oh yes, make sure you argue when there are many other clients presence @ the BS. Dun give them face lah... That's why we make sure that they write "bulat-bulat" on that piece of paper that we got for the BS package. All's well that ends well. ====================== William MY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER www.my-weddingphotographer < updated my website today! >
  13. Why invitation card? You see, old folds says the invitation card will come with envelope. When they come to your wedding dinner, they will put the $$$ in the invitation card instead of looking for "ang pow". If they are far away, you can always scan invitation card and e-mail to them. In fact, when I got married last year, a couple friends (close ones) I send them SMS as invitation. My friend came all the way from Johor & Singapore attended my wedding in KL after receiving my SMS. 14. Hi Franchie, Best not to stretch for long time. Usually my clients stretch their wedding dinner a week after the wedding day but not longer than that. Wedding day is a tiring day for the wedded couple but best to go through all at once and not let it delay for more than a week. Mood? Yup, definately. No more the "chi fen" already. William MY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER www.my-weddingphotographer.com http://fotomalaysia.blogspot.com
  15. Usually the BS or the make-up will do a hair that fits your make-up as well as face-feature. Some girls looks sexier and pretty with short hair than long hair up to waist. My wife's hair is long and when we had our PS shot, her was proud of her long hair but one thing for sure, you can't get the hair grow very fast. Let it grow naturally but always be proud to what you have. :) William MY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER www.my-weddingphotographer.com http://fotomalaysia.blogspot.com
  16. Wan Yee, E-mail me and I will let u know. Not convenient to post it here. William
  17. Hi Babysiew, There will be some bad hats PG out there who's like tat but not all PG are like that. Take it easy.... Well, there's one bridal shop in SS2 that really screwed up one of my clien'ts bridal wedding pics.. They were at my place the other day and you could really imagine how bad those pics were taken. The bride almost cried laaa... Kesian. So, my advice to them is to take note of that shop and warn others not to go there for any bridal photo shoot anymore. My this client did went back to ask for re-shoot but the mgmt refuse saying that if they want it, they have to pay!!! My gosh!!! no customer service at all la! So if this PG that Babysiew encounter is like that, then this person is asking for trouble lah.. William MY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER www.my-weddingphotographer.com http://fotomalaysia.blogspot.com
  18. Hello Babysiew, So sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with the PG. Well, i'm a wedding photographer myself but what I put in this forum is for us to judge whether what the PG that you encounter is irresponsible or "stuck up". Let me tell you my experience. In 2005, I was a "full time" photographer. I shoot anything from product photography to actual wedding day photographer. I had quite a couple of clients who engaged me for their wedding photo shoot and that in fact was the worst year as I had couple clients who "booked" me by "faith" but did not live up to their promises. They looked at my work and booked me without paying any deposit [which I told them don't need as I believe they already booked me (duh!)]. Then these couples call me up a few days before they got married and told me that they do not need my services anymore. One of them had to ask her mom to give me a call to cancel the booking!!!! Yes, I was pretty frustrated. So, comes 2006 and 2007, I collect deposit first in order for my clients to book me. I have clients as far as New York and UK who came back to get married and engaged me without seeing the storybook album/coffee table album or meeting me face-to-face. In fact, all of them saw my work in my website and I'm photographer who took all those pics. After the wedding, they recommended their friends & associates to me without bothering to meet up. For those dates that I am booked, I usually recommend those disappointed clients to my other AD photographers who also have their work posted online. Of course, they must be good lah... But one thing for sure, for consumers like you Babysiew, you have the right to see the PG's work but you have to understand that you have to book them early. Even my cousin who got married had to book me 1 year in advance and if the time draws to near to the wedding date and if the period that you are getting married is also a "peak" season, most photographers will also go for the client who booked them early. "Booked" means "client who already paid some sort of deposit. Also, there are PG who never reply their e-mails. Maybe they have no time or they are so well off as they have many clients, they have no time to reply their e-mails. I have to actually thank those who actually contacted me via e-mails as this is very convenient for me to communicate with my clients who may or may not engage my service. In fact, 100% of my clients for the past 2 years contact me via e-mails! So, if there are 2 or 3 couples getting married on the same day and none has booked me, I would definately tell them to book me early if they are comfortable with my work. So, if one of the couple has booked me, it is my duty to inform the other couples that I have been booked (provided I have the contact number or e-mail). So, by leaving an e-mail is the best choice and if they are able to give us their wedding details will be even better. Example, I will be having a wedding on Nov 11, 2007 and its going to be in Batu Pahat, Johor. I had to know if I had to accept the job for Nov 10 wedding in Kuala Lumpur or Ipoh. It's important to me as I had to drive up north and go down to Johor the next morning. Making sure the location of the wedding is as important as the wedding date and many dates clashes during "peak season". No doubt, the date 07.07.07 is a damn good date to get married (as stated in the chinese calendar) and there were like a dozen couples who tried to book me recently but unfortunately I was booked since last year!!! Oh yes, I updated my "booked" dates on my website once every 3 or 4 days. For those dates which I stated "unconfirmed" are those dates that the clients enquire but hasn't book me yet. Therefore, those are the "open" dates that I am still available but there are already other who shown keen interest to have me as their PG. Well, hope my personal comments would help anyone in this forum as to know how I do my work as a wedding photographer. Of course, if there is no comments, there won't be any improvement for anyone of us but yes, I appreciate Babysiew to bring up this matter. I see this type of situation happening very often and would definately jeopardize our good name & our profession. In the end of the day, YOU ARE STILL THE BOSS!!! U pay our salary maa...
